“Lovely”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2010

We stayed during early September. This is a lovely old French house set in enormouss grounds reminiscent of a park. Very quiet with some 8 or so bedrooms and often we had the pool area to ourselves. This is a small intimate pool with very comfortable sunbeds and mattresses, surrounded by meadows and trees. The bedroom was large and whilst not exactly state of the art somewhat boutique/shabby chique was quiet and comforable. Big bathroom with everything you could need. Delightful courtyard for breakfast. The owner, Poppy was absolutely charming. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this for a quiet break in lovely surroundings. A car is a must as the hotel is remote from all the neighbouring towns and villages.

This B&B feels like your home in Provence. Tasteful, sophisticated and warm. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a view of the sculpture-filled garden. The bath was large and modern, with a great shower. Breakfast was served in the sunny kitchen. And a delicious local dinner, prepared by Emmanuel, who both cooked and entertained us, provided a memorable evening. Our host Poppy made sure our every need was met . All this, and a restful setting in the countryside along the Sorgue river completed the escape. This is a place we will visit again.

My wife and I recently stayed at La Bastide Rose for two weeks, as our "base camp" for exploring Provence. Its location on the Sorgue river; its large and lovely grounds provide solitude if you want it...or you can gather at the house for conversation with Poppy, Emmanuel or fellow travelers. Poppy and Emmanuel share their extensive "inside" knowledge of the area to help in making exploration plans. Staying at Bastide Rose "made" our vacation.

We expected nice; we found heavenly. Wonderful location for exploring the Avignon area and the Luberon. Gorgeously and comfortably restored old mill, filled with (good) art and Mme "Poppy" Salinger's family antiques (she's a real charmer, too). Achingly beautiful grounds and countryside. Good wifi. Dinner was lovely and tasty, and we felt like family. Only problem: I didn't want to leave, ever

I spent four days at La Bastide Rose and found it the perfect choice for touring Provence. It is conveniently located close to town and main roads, yet is surrounded by farmland on beautiful acreage with a canal running through the property. My room was lovely with a spacious, immaculate bath that had all the modern conveniences including a towel warmer and I was glad to return to it each evening. Emmanuel is the consumate host and chef - cheerful, friendly, helpful and eager to please.

What a nice experience-we spent one night with Poppy Salinger at her bed and breakfast in Le Thor--a great location in Provence. The grounds are lovely, right on the river, the rooms are big and well appointed and the recommendations for restaurants and drives in the area were outstanding. The food is good and the hostess is nothing short of delightful. I recommend it highly-it would be a great place for several friends or family to meet.
