“Nice to walk the dam. Tours are a bit pricey.”

$31 for whole tour, I think $16 for part tour and $8 for a minimal tour. Nice to walk across the tour and visit the gift shop. You are also able to walk across the new bridge.
Careful coming from Vegas as only one little sign that says Hoover Dam at exit 2. We missed it and ended up in Arizona. Coming back though, very clear signs to turn for the Hoover Dam Visitor Center.

“Hoover Dam with NEW highway bridge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2011

The Last year I was there was 1988 and things sure changed --vast improvements that make it an ideal site to visit--with a New Visitors Center and even without going in it. View of New bridge from Dam site IS startling . Only dissappointment was one could not see the canyon or bridge in driving a car across new bridge, but I understand why --for safety as one would take eyes off the road and safety compromised?? One CAN park the car on one side and walk the bridge tho which I noticed lots did--kindof wish Iwe had but hope to visit again SOON. All we met were so friendly with no one in any hurry ETC. The Lake level upstream of the dam is down over 150 feet which may be an all-time low// Never heard but hope it gains as was told it will take 5 years or more to reach normal heights. Enjoy !!

“History and Nature make a great trip”

The Hoover Dam Museum is well worth the admission. Marvel at the government project that finished under budget and on time! You'll be amazed at the sheer size and determination of the workers to construct this huge structure.

“Small but interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2008

This museum is located in the old downtown section of Boulder City. The structure was the original hotel, and it still serves that purpose.

Exhibits explain how and why the dam was built, gives a sense of the daily lives of the workers and their families, and what conditions were like in the US during the Depression. Despite the many hardships and hazards, the dam workers were generally better off than most, They also explain that blacks and other minorities were given the most menial jobs and facilities, if they were given any at all!

The exhibits are a good variety of film, murals, models, documents, and items that were donated to the Museum. There's something of interest for all ages. You can see everything in an hour. I recommend visiting the museum first, it will give the dam more context.

BTW, the review before this one is mixing up this museum with the one located at the dam site.
