The smart and exceedingly comfortable transport in the form of a black van with wifi enabled iPads for each seat was already waiting as we turned up at our appointed time for the journey to Boulder City. Adrian, the driver, was friendly and chatty as we made our way to the hanger for check-in. The formalities of weight check and ticket confirmation were done rapidly by the friendly staff at the desk who called us all by name. Drinks were offered and after a short wait we were all marched our to the helicopter for a photo call. The pilot, Cole, was confident, friendly and informative as he guided the chopper over Lake Mead, the Hoover dam and on towards the Grand Canyon. Excellent views afforded great photo and video opportunities and after 30 mins or so we made an imperceptible landing on the most exclusive picnic site. Views above and below met all expectations and lunch was served (salad, cheese, grapes chocolate cake) along with the drink we had requested during the van pick up ride (choice of soft drinks, champagne, wine, beer etc) as our pilot filled us in on the geography. The trip back to Boulder City incorporated a refuelling stop in the middle of the desert and some weaving through the rocky valleys. A total of 2 hours had elapsed by the time of our landing at the airstrip and helipads. The seats in the helicopter were comfortable, the headsets allowed commentary by our pilot and his personally chosen evocative playlist and attention to safety detail was impressive. It was a memorable experience by a company obviously geared to delivering quality and confidence in what to many making their first helicopter flight might otherwise have been an anxious time. It's not cheap but if you want to experience the Grand Canyon at its most impressive it's worth every cent.
