We did the power plant tour and it was very interesting. Our guide Scott was funny and educational. We learned alot. The sites are unbelievable. Very easy tour. Worth the money.

We went to Vegas not for the gambling but to see the lights, grand canyon and last but not least Hoover Dam. Our Son was very interested in going to Hoover Dam after seeing a documentary on how it was built. What a fantastic tour unfortunately the tour which takes you right the bottom was not running on the day we were there. But we still enjoyed our tour.

There are bigger damns and more powerful plants, but Hoover Dam has some really powerful story behind it. It's history is full of drama. Floods and droughts, natural disasters, states, fighting for water rights, the desperation of the Great Depression, lots of workers who died during construction - it was a lot of challenges and obstacles, but at the end they were all solved and this is a tremendously inspiration story about what people can achieve when they work together.

This place definitely has a soul. Also, besides great constructions and machines, it has a lot of style and art. The floors, the monument, the old visitor center and even the new bridge - they were beyond functional and have a clear message to the new generations about what human spirit can do.

Very inspirational, highly recommended.

We went to see the Hoover dam and ended up learning that the project, done without benefit of computers, helped this country survive the depression, was completed ahead of schedule, the energy it provides paid for the cost of its construction (not taxes), and its projected ability to function as a power provider is about 2,000 years. What a great story and great accomplishment. We toured with Pink Jeep Tours and had a great guide.

We booked this trip from the forum ticket booth at Caesars shopping mall. Haggling with the young ladies worked as we managed a good discount.
The trip included hotel pickup (08:30), we were taken to the tour operators coach station via the Las Vegas welcome sign (quick photo shoot)
The trip was a tour of Hoover Dam then followed by picnic lunch on the Lake Mead paddle steamer. Finally the coach taking us to the M&M's chocolate factory.
Finnally being dropped back at the Mirage hotel around 18:30. All in all a long day, but also a very enjoyable time was had by all.
