“Great find in a lovely town!”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

This motel is a lovely little place in a really nice town. We didn't have a reservation but were able to get a room and the lady on the front desk was very helpful (as we arrived in town about 1pm, so the rooms were not yet ready. She advised some places to eat/drink and that the room would be ready in an hour which it was). It's a bargain too at only $70 and you can park right outside the rooms usually. The rooms themselves are clean and comfy but if you're expecting the ritz, might be disappointed, as are a little dated in decor, but were clean and bright witha fridge and microwave which is pretty useful. Also, it's located near to all the food/drink places and local shops. There's nice little pool too (chilly though unless really hot outside) and free wifi which is always a bonus!) Would defo stay again and recommend to others.

Staff was amazing, got to meet the owners and they are the sweetest people I've ever met. Even though we couldn't swim, because it was really cold, got to see the pool and was amazingly maintained. They really know how to keep a motel clean, coffee is delicious, walls were made of brick, well insulated, could not hear honeymooning neighbors, and wonderful recommendations for breakfast and dinner, southwest diner for breakfast, Casa Flores for dinner. Check in was very quick, and housekeeping staff was very friendly, always smiling, and willing to assist with any amenities needed. STAY HERE

Clean rooms, comfortable beds and they allowed our medium sized dog.
It's close to lots of great restaurants with outdoor seating and grassy areas to walk the dog, which is perfect after driving all day and not wanting to drive any where to eat. It's an older well maintained motel.

This motel sure beats those plastic franchises! We booked a kitchenette room because I was hoping to catch some trout at Willow Beach, AZ south of Boulder Dam before passing through Boulder City. Alas, no trout but we bought a fillet of Salmon and made use of the nice, funky little kitchen anyway. Two weeks later we were returning southbound but on the other side of the Colorado River and we decided to go a little out of our way to stay again at El Rancho in Boulder City and avoid the Las Vegas-Henderson scene. If you are more into seeing the sights, and I don't mean gambling, try this comfortable motel.

One cannot help but see the magnificent sign that points to the El Rancho Motel. Driving along Nevada Way towards Arizona, we saw the sign and thought just how cool and vintage it looked. On the drive back, we decided to check it out and we enjoyed our stay.

The lovely receptionist checked us in a swift manner. The rooms are very basic, but comfortable. There is cable TV and free Wi-fi. Behind the door is a list of don'ts while staying in the room. The last item had me baffled and amazed. It stated: Under no circumstance are motorcycles allowed in the room. Very well.

Note that this hotel does not offer a complimentary breakfast. At the rate we received though, it's nothing to complain about. Though, coffee is served just outside the office. Moreover, the Southwest Diner is just a few steps away. If you find yourself in Boulder City for a few days, give the El Rancho a try.

I used to come to the El Rancho Boulder Motel often, skipped a few years and spent three nights here in October.

I was surprised by how little had changed. The rooms looked the same and had the same feel: no cute little bottles for shampoo or lotion, the same table and chairs, the same small refrigerator and microwave.
The same tv with less than 20 channels, the same incorrect list for those channels (e.g. TNT turned out to be MSNBC, there was no CNN as the list suggested).
There is HBO (great!) - but no guide.

This is no criticism! This place has been this way for as long as I can remember (8-10 years?).
To me these small things don't matter because I enjoy it as a nice, small family owned motel.

Don't expect a nice breakfast (all you get is a cup of coffee - but better, stronger coffee than at many chain motels).
Do expect a beautiful large pool. Clean rooms.
And really high speed internet. Not like many other motels say they have, but really high speed!

And expect a nice staff.

We went to the Dam and it was quite close. The room was clean, not real updated but that did not bother us. Coffee only at the front desk in the morning, not a big concern either. Quiet, did not hear our neighbors. The front desk "ladies" greated us with smiles and welcomed our very well behaved smiling Beagle "Ginger". My only issue, and I seemed to get used to it, was the loud roar of the air conditioning. The bed was a bit hard, King non smoking room.
