Solid breakfast place in Anchorage. It's a 70s throwback... from the booths, the patrons, and the classic food.

A stand-out is, oddly, the hashbrowns. Just a bit on the greasy side, but oh-so-good.

Can't go wrong with a breakfast outing at Jackie's.

Everything you want for breakfast from an All-American diner. Eggs with cheese, grease, vegetables and hash browns! Will go back again.

It was too crowded on Saturday morning (about 10-11am). So I left and went elsewhere. But the food must be good, as plenty of locals didn't have any reservations about waiting!

Not bad at all. Particularly being in the heart of all types of eateries and name evening nightspots in mid-Spenard.

My friend and I have lunch periodically and some time ago decided to diversify and check out various places to have such within Anchorage proper. This has proven to be very interesting. My turn to buy yesterday and being a long time KSKA supporter as well as an NPR one, hold a membership benefits card. Behold, Jackie's Place was on the card and piqued our interest.

So, pretty good, we'll go there again. Really liked the pleasant personality of the waitress who had only been in Alaska for a month or so, she came with her husband, a veteran Coast Guard air/sea rescue officer. Hey, that alone sends a signal to me, since as a life long (73 years) coastal Alaskan anything and anybody connected with that segment of the service, based upon what I've experienced witnessing their accomplishments and courage, makes me pay attention.

Anyway, all that patriotic stuff aside, Jackie's Place is clean, but still not a super impressive all around atmosphere either, the food is slightly above average when compared to an eatery like Denny's, which I don't consider all the bad either.

Yes, do intend to go back, but have more to check out in town before I do that.
