“Very nice hotel, but a little spendy.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2012

big bathroom, comfortable beds, Love the convience of having a kitchenette. The pool is very big for the kids to play in and the workout room had up to date and good condition equipment. The breakfast was excellent too with sausage, eggs, pancakes, waffle maker, several fruits, pastries and muffins and bagels and bread.. Even the little convenience store they operate out of the front desk had excellent items to offer. Healthier stuff like nuts, trail mix and fruit. Very thankful for this. I have stayed in most of the Anchorage hotels and this is one of the best; however it is not cheap!. You will pay for all the amenities. If all you need is a place to sleep you can find nice cheaper rooms at other hotels, but if you are staying a few days this is a great place.

Overall it was a pretty good place to stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable and fairly quiet. We had a few minor issues at check in, (the room wasn’t ready at 3:00 pm, and then when we were allowed to check in the room approximately 20 minutes later, it was still being cleaned). Daily breakfast was included and was located in a buffet area just off the lobby. On weeknights there was a light “happy hour” including beer, wine and a light snack. There was plenty of parking. The location of the hotel is just off Seward Highway a few miles from the downtown area which was convenient for getting around to the various sites we went to. We had trouble finding the hotel coming from the airport, as some of the streets in Anchorage discontinue from one block to the next and this hotel is located on one of them. Also, strangely enough, there is no sign at the main entrance to this hotel (at least when we were there).

Our family of four stayed one night at this Anchorage Residence Inn prior to flying our after a 2 week family vacation. I utilized 25,000 Marriott Rewards points for our lodging. I chose this facility over a couple of other options downtown for several reasons: the full kitchen afforded us the opportunity to cook one more meal of fresh salmon before heading back to Kansas; the parking was free; the 2 bedroom suite offered expansive areas for us to spread out and relax; 3 TVs after 2 weeks of very limited technology; the location appeared on Google Earth to be, and in fact was, surrounded by office businesses in a quiet, secure, and easily accessed area near New Seward Road/ Hwy. Other hotels I considered seemed crowded into the downtown area with limited living spaces available. The woman at the front desk was very helpful and efficient in checking us in and later on providing directions to a grocery store. She even loaned a scale so I could weigh our luggage prior to our flights home. The hallway had an unusual odor but the entire hotel was very clean. Our 2 bedroom suite was as described on the website and of above average quality. Do keep in mind, this is Alaska, not Chicago, Houston or New York. The full kitchen (including an oven and full size fridge-freezer) had everything you would need to prepare a full meal for four and was designed in an attractive contemporary style. The televisions were flat screens with numerous channels. Free WiFi was appreciated although it was somewhat slow and I did have to call the front desk to obtain connection details. Laundry facilities were above average and there was ample detergent to purchase and a bill changer in the laundry room. Luggage carts were available but it was a bit of a challenge to hold the double set of doors open while moving through. The doors did show some wear. Parking was ample and well lighted. Room darkening curtains are present and much needed in this northern location. A/C worked well. Our suite did have a fireplace but we were intent on absorbing as much cool weather as possible before returning to 100+ degrees at home and left the screened windows open. The sleeper sofa was in good order with linens in the bedroom closet. There appears to be a very nice pool area and also a nice outdoor landscaped area and a grill area but we did not use any of these. The New Sagaya Market with fabulous fresh seafood and fish is just a couple of blocks away and a Fred Meyer grocery has everything else you could ever need. I would recommend this Residence Inn when staying in the Anchorage area. It is easy enough to travel to any other locations quickly in Anchorage.

We (two couples) shared a two-bedroom suite on three different occasions during our Alaska trip. The living area was roomy with modern, tasteful furnishings. There was a comfortable sofa and chair, a flatscreen TV, and a fireplace (which we did not use). The full kitchen was stocked with all the basics and included a table with four padded chairs. The air conditioning worked well, and we needed it! There was a bedroom on each side of the living area. Each bedroom had a comfortable (but a bit saggy) queen bed, mushy pillows, and flatscreen TV. There was adequate storage space but no luggage rack. Each bedroom had a small bathroom with tub/shower and a separate sink area. The showerhead was excellent, and we had plenty of hot water and soft, fluffy towels. The fan in the bathroom was noisy and came on with the light. One bedroom had a desk and chair in it. Most of the suite was well lit, except for one side of the living area. The hotel was generally quiet, but we heard people talking in the courtyard late at night. The breakfast buffet was very good with a large selection of hot and cold items, including healthy choices. Considering the high price of hotels in Alaska, we found that two couples could save money by sharing this suite without any loss of comfort.

Nice Residence Inn. Not far from anything!.

My only complaint was my heating unit. It was REALLY loud. I actually at times had difficulty sleeping on occasion. Overall, very good stay.

Room Tip: Inquire about guests with kids & pets if you want quiet.

We enjoyed a two-bedroom suite on our last visit to Anchorage, which provided plenty of room to spread out and be comfortable. The complimentary breakfast is okay--better than most free, continental breakfasts you find but nothing that you would write home about. Still, it's free, the coffee is hot and serves the need for immediate gratification in the morning, and the dining area is attractive and well-staffed. The hotel even has a laundry facility, which is handy if you're traveling for a long time or simply like to travel light. The full-size fridge and microwave are nice additions. I'd gladly stay here again. (It's also close to the Moose's Tooth, the best pizza and beer place on the planet!)

After taking the red eye from LA to Anchorage all my husband and I wanted to do was crash in a decent hotel close to the airport. We got exactly what we wanted. The Residence Inn is centrally located to everything from the airport to restaurants to downtown. It was clean and comfortable. My only negatives were the WiFi was painfully slow and the continental breakfast was terrible. Powdered eggs and not a clean table to be seen.
