What a great hotel in Anchorage! We walked in to check in and there were cookies in the lobby! The rooms are clean, modern, and quite spacious. The cleaning staff left chocolates on the bedside table. The breakfast was really impressive - oatmeal, ingredients to build your own egg sandwich, hard boiled eggs, assorted cereals, a waffle making station, yogurt, etc. Even great options like soy milk! I'd definitely come back to this hotel.

Clean rooms and hotel. Nice breakfast with hard boiled eggs and various items. Professional, polite staff. Definitely the best run Marriott in anchorage. The only negatives: because of it's location a bit noisey and for both nights other guests were loud and roudy.

Brought my family to Anchorage for a 4 day stay. We stay at the Springhill Suites whenever they are in the town we are traveling to. We initially were disappointed at the fact that the pool was closed due to construction; however, the staff was more than gracious of the fact and quickly turned a grouchy husband and grumpy 5 year old into fans once more by finding different ways to make them both happy. The rooms are spacious and clean/quiet. The hotel is centrally located and just around the corner from shopping/dining. We will for sure be staying here again.

Likely the worst business travel experience I've had with a hotel. Multiple issues:
1) Hotel promised shuttle service but didn't deliver - incurred $$$ in taxi fees
2) Room is disrepair - TV remote didn't work and toilet handle literally fell off
3) NO HEAT OR POWER - room heater wasn't working so I asked to be moved. Was told they were overbooked and they would bring in space heaters. 30 minutes and 2 calls later, finally showed. After they left, heaters blew power; called to front desk (in the dark) and they wanted to put me on hold! Finally moved to another room - kicker was that room WAS RIGHT NEXT DOOR! Could have solved this a lot sooner.

Would expect this from a Motel 6 - not a Marriott property.

My family ( incl. 2 teenagers) stayed at this hotel in August 2010 while we visited different parts of Alaska by train. The staff is very helpful especially Mark and the shuttle service to and from the train depot and airport ran efficiently. We were able to leave our excess luggage at the hotel when we went to Seward and Denali and when my husband got ill and had to go to the hospital the staff was very helpful and accomodating.
The layout of the rooms was also good as it allowed everyone some space so we weren't all over each other and since we were in Alaska for 12 days it was convenient to have a kitchenette. The breakfast was adequate and appreciated.
The only things that I could find fault with is that the vanity area was way too small and our toiletries and cosmetics had to remain in bags on the floor and since the hotel is midtown and not downtown we had to take a taxi to go to restaurants etc.. downtown. The cost of the taxi was about $8.00, not that much and I am sure all things considered it is still more economical to stay at Springhill but at times I wished that I stayed downtown if only for the choice of restaurants. Also complimentary shuttles to and from the zoo and the Heritage Center pick up and drop off downtown so we had to take a taxi to and from downtown when we went to these places.
The free high speed internet was also a plus especially when you have teenagers.

Noce hotel but dissappointing after seeing the reviews. Rooms were in good shape and comfortable although beds were not great. Service was pleasant but certainly not outstanding. I have stayed at better hotels in Anchorage.

Stayed at the midtown Springhill and at the University Lake one in Anchorage. University Lake is a bit far out. BOTH are clean, well managed and have SUPERIOR customer service. They both have airport and train station shuttles.

I left my cell phone at the Univ Lake property and their shuttle driver brought it to me at the airport!!!!

The midtown SS was also great and allowed an extended time on check out which was very helpful.

We like Springhill Suites breakfast, their customer services, their cleanliness, their staff, etc.
