We stayed one night after arriving on the Aurora Winter train, so it was a brief stay. The property is right in downtown Anchorage with a beautiful view of Cook Inlet and the Alaska range. You can even see Denali from the deck, which conveniently faces north, if the aurora should be out. We seem to be the only guests, but the house is large and can accommodate several guests, Some rooms have en suite bathrooms, and others are shared. Two rooms have private decks with the spectacular views, including the Denali room which we stayed in. The king bed was one of the most comfortable that I have slept in with nice down pillows. The bathroom and shower were also of upscale hotel quality. The wifi was speedy and seem to be plentiful TV options. Linda was welcoming and helpful with places for dinner on a late Sunday evening. Breakfast was plentiful with a mixture of hot and cold options as well as good coffee. Linda also called us a cab in the morning which we appreciated. We would love to come back and spend more time in Anchorage and we come back to stay here.

Room Tip: If you want a beautiful view to wake up to choose one of the front rooms with the private decks.

We stayed in this B&B on three separate occasions during a month criss-crossing Alaska. The location is close enough to downtown to walk, yet the neighborhood is set apart and very peaceful and quiet. Linda, the host, is wonderful, offering great suggestions on things to do and see, where to eat, and how to get around. We had one of the lower-level rooms with shared bath, and it was quite comfortable. The place is immaculate, and the the main sitting/dining area offers stunning views of Cook Inlet and sunsets. On clear days, you can see Mt. McKinley. Food is basic continental style, but very fresh and there’s a lot of variety.

We reserved a night in the Foraker room at the beginning of our trip to Alaska, and the Denali Room at the end of our trip. We were graciously upgraded to the Denali room for the first night. This room has a sitting area with a very comfortable love seat at the foot of the bed across from a heater/fireplace. The bed was a queen size bed (might be a little soft for some) and the blinds blocked all the light at night (especially important when the days are long). There was adequate storage space in the room, a wardrobe, TV and very special patio area with 2 comfortable chairs and a beautiful view of the mountain range out across the water. The bathroom had a tub and shower that worked great. The sink was a pedestal sink with a shelf underneath that provided just about enough storage for both of us. The room was very private and cozy and I really enjoyed returning to it at the end of our stay.

Breakfast contained a nice selection of food. We had plenty to choose from and plenty to eat. There were not too many people there while we were staying so we didn't experience space issues but I could see how this could happen if more rooms were occupied. We didn't notice the bins of different shampoos by the front desk until checking out (we went directly to our room the first night) so if you don't bring your own, make sure to stop and select one to use.

I would definitely stay here again if I needed to overnight in Anchorage. It is close to the airport, shops dining and roads in and out of Anchorage if your journey continues onward.

We spent two relaxing nights at the Susitna Place Bed and Breakfast in Anchorage. We booked the Suitna Suite which included a king bed, living room, and private patio. For a very fair price, we received many amenities: excellent bay and mountain views, tasteful breakfast with delicious jams and reindeer sausage, a very hospitable innkeeper-Linda, free WiFi, numerous cable channels and all within walking distance from the city center.

We highly recommend this comfortable Place.

We had a nice room that had two double beds in it, would have preferred one queen size as we are both tall but it wasn't a problem. Everything was clean and the bathroom was good with plenty of hot water. Linda gave us the heads up on booking somewhere for dinner asap and luckily we managed to find a nice place to eat. Breakfast the following morning was a buffet with plenty of choice in the large sitting room upstairs with a great view of the inlet. My only complaint would be the lack of tables in the dining area. This B&B has quite a few rooms and when everyone was in for breakfast at roughly the same time it was fairly busy. We were a party of 4 and had a table but some folks had to sit and wait until one was available. We felt a little rushed as we knew people were waiting. Overall we enjoyed our stay and Susitna Place is in a exellent position and easy run to the airport.
