We live in Alaska, just north of Anchorage and my husband had never stayed here before! We had a junior suite and he was blown away by it. It was a corner room with windows on two walls looking to the mountains and inlet. Breathtaking!!

The hotel is filled with things to do and places to eat. The Whale's Tail is super fun with a get your own wine bar. We ate the Fletcher's our last stay and the bartenders were very friendly and super knowledgeable. There are some fun little stores right in the hotel.

At Christmastime they have the GingerBread Village there to check out. So fun!

We didn't use the pool this time, but it's great too. Love this hotel and am always happy when we get to stay there!!

Room Tip: Go for the Junior Suite! It is soooo worth it!

Dear kiri_angel,

Thank you for staying at The Hotel Captain Cook. We appreciate your great review and it's so nice to share the Holiday season with local Alaskans. Providing warm comfortable stays during a recent cold snap is something we truly take pride in. I think it hit -10 yesterday (BURRRRR). If you have a getaway planned again please let us know because we'd be honored to share another great experience with you.

Sincerely,
Hunter R. W. Edelen

You could how a hotel is managed by using their towels... too thin that you could read the newspaper - or too solid like a rock if they do not care - but here you could see: very thick and very fluffy... like the whole hotel. Many little details in your room you normally need to pay much more for. And a great central location. Only parking around is quite expensive.

Dear HeinBloed,

Thank you for staying at The Hotel Captain Cook. What a great review. When our guests point out the attention to detail it really hits home. Our GM and VP do a great job at leading our team and showing us that details are very important to each guest. I know it's quite a trip from Germany but we'd love to see you again if you're ever back this way.

Sincerely,
Hunter R. W. Edelen

During a recent land/sea cruise our first night was spent at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage, AK. The hotel is located in the central portion of downtown Anchorage and is close to everything. The hotel is extremely clean and the staff is very attentive. Beds are very comfortable. Hotel food is a little pricey for my liking but other than that, it is excellent.

Room Tip: All rooms appear to have a great view.

The Captain Cook staff are all great, and they are always available. The facilities are always in great shape and in the rare instance where something doesn't work, they are on it in minutes. I've sometimes had to stay elsewhere because the Cook was full or a meeting required it. There is no place that comes close to the friendly atmosphere, good food and great facilities of the Captain Cook.

Room Tip: Go as high as you can go, the views only get better.
