As most things in Anchorage - and understandably so - you pay a lot for what you get, but in this case, you get a lot. We stayed for two nights on the Captain's Deck, and the extra amenities ( lounge access, with extensive breakfast and hors d's, free gym access, ...) justify the extra expense. Good location. The crow's nest is a superb restaurant.

Room Tip: captain's deck rooms are worth the extra money

Dear Travel_Jan95,

Thank you for staying at The Hotel Captain Cook. What a stellar review. We are always finding ways to provide more value to all of our guests and the Captain's Deck and Crow's Nest shine again. With all the added amenities of the Captain's Deck and ambiance and experience of a fine Northwest Restaurant main staging your Captain Cook stay it is a true pleasure to take care of your every need. Have fun in Belgium and we'll see you again.

Sincerely,
Hunter R. W. Edelen

Great hotel with everything you need inside - it has a large 1 block+ footprint. Front desk staff and concierge were outstanding. A few block walk to Anchorage's "nightlife". Very surprised that this quaint hotel had such a lavish fitness center. Separate gyms for men and women - don't quite get that since it's 2013 - but spa-like locker rooms and a 17 yd, 5 lane lap pool. I didn't think I'd be able to swim in AK, but the Captain Cook was a welcome surprise. It is among the best hotels in Anchorage.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing 1) the inlet or 2) the mountains. We initially had a view of the parking garage but the Front desk staff changed us when we asked for a different room.

Dear michalv_9,

Thank you for staying at The Hotel Captain Cook. We appreciate your great review and we're pleased to see you enjoyed your stay. I love it that you liked the Athletic Clubs. I like to call them the health and recovery centers. They have so many things to offer. Whether you're a hard core work out junkie or someone looking to do an Executive Workout (steam, shower, shave) they have it all. We love to see you again some day if you return to Alaska. Take care.

Sincerely,

We spent 2 days in Anchorage at the Hotel Captain Ccok. The hotel was well located to explore downtown and for biking the coastal trail. Our room was comfortable but a little tired, wallpaper was peeling off the walls in the bathroom. Apart from that our stay was pleasant and we would stay here again.
