“Iditarod 2014”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2014

I spent a wonderful 3 weeks at A Wildflower Inn in Anchorage during the 2014 Iditarod. Allen and Larry were tremendous hosts. My upstairs suite was easily accessible and private. Because I was there so long, I met a number of interesting people who came to stay. If you are looking for comfort, good breakfasts, wonderful hosts and privacy, this is the place to stay.

What more can I say? Great host, great breakfast, super clean, good location. I stayed here when I needed a little getaway from the family while studying for an important exam. I would easily recommend this to friends, family staying in Anchorage....and I'm a local so I think we tend to judge a little harshly! Really, I can't think of one thing I would try to improve on.

This is a wonderful property . Larry and Alan were perfect hosts. The breakfast was to die for. 4 of us stayed here before starting our Alaskan Cruise. We were able to walk into town. Our rooms were great. If we ever get back to Alaska we would definitely stay here again.

My mom and I visited the Wildflower Inn twice, at the beginning and middle of a 3-week trip around Alaska. Over the course of the trip, we stayed at a number of B & Bs and hotels. Wildflower Inn was by far the best accommodation we encountered, with a beautiful, private room and bathroom, flexible and knowledgeable hosts, and an excellent breakfast. Larry and Allan were super friendly and directed us to a number of local attractions and restaurants, which all turned out to be great. We would recommend Wildflower Inn to anyone visiting Anchorage, and if we ever return to the city, we will also definitely return to the Inn.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Lupine Suite, which had a king-sized bed, as well as a futon in another room. It wo...

We had a great time at this beautiful home located just a short walk from downtown Anchorage. The price was very fair and our stay was worth every penny we paid and more. The host was so helpful with any question we had! The rooms were so nice. I must mention that the breakfast was superb! We'll be back!

My son and I arrived in Anchorage and called Allan on short notice. He met us 15 minutes later, showed us around the accommodations, then left us on our own. The room was quiet and VERY clean, as was the bathroom with Jacuzzi tub. He had breakfast ready this morning, including fresh cut fruit, juices, coffee, tea, cereal, yogurt, different kinds of bread for toast, 3 kinds of preserves, eggs (offered but not taken), and sausage that Allan jokingly disclaimed as CONTAINING but not comprised wholly of reindeer meet. Needless to say we ate a late lunch. He was also very helpful as we planned our time in Alaska with recommendations for and against potential sites with which he was familiar. Note that this is not a fancy place, but it was very comfortable, clean, and well maintained. It is obvious that Allan and his partner take the host business seriously. Recommended.

The Wildflower Inn is a B&B in Larry and Allan's home in a residential neighborhood pretty conveniently located near downtown Anchorage. There is an excellent grocery store right across the street, although you won't really need it because the breakfast is wonderful. Allan made us "Wildflower eggs," which is a Spanish omelet with cheese baked in a tortilla. We wanted to book for 3 nights, but the first 2 nights were unavailable, so Larry (by phone and email) suggested we stay in another one of their several properties -- the Sunflower vacation rental (a one BR, one bath cottage with coin-op laundry in an attached garage -- very clean, comfortable and private -- we loved it!). On the 3rd night there was room at the Inn, so we stayed in the Fireweed Suite with 2 bedrooms and private bath at the top of the stairs. The whole house is very tastefully furnished and immaculately clean. Larry was away working in Barrow during our stay, but Allan was extremely gracious, welcoming and helpful with maps and suggestions. There were some opinionated other guests at the time we were there, and Allan was admirably diplomatic. We stayed in mid-late September so we paid the off-season rate of $79 which, considering the accommodations and service, was a sensational bargain.

Room Tip: The B&B is on a main intersection, so there was some traffic noise. Also, we could hear voices o...
