If you are into aviation you must soak this up. Float plane heaven and a relaxing time watching the activity. Also see the small museum

“Floatplane lover's paradise”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

If you're a fan of floatplanes, this is the best place in the world to see them in action. From June through September you can see a steady stream of floatplanes, from J-3 Cubs to DeHavilland Otters, arriving and departing from the busiest seaplane base on Earth.

“plane landings are fun to watch”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

May be small itchy creachers in the water but young mothers with toddlers love to go there. Geese go through once in a while from the looks of the sand and grass.

“Lake Hood great if you like loud planes!”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

Fun to watch the planes take off and land, but it's pretty loud. No real place to hang out - parking is limited and there is no place to sit.
