“Nice Dinner at Orso”
Reviewed December 4, 2006

I really enjoyed the ambience and food at Orso. My girlfriends and I split appetizers and two entrees because the portions were so large. The pasta with seafood (King crab) was delicious. I was very happy with the service, and would say this is one of the better restaurants in Anchorage, and I was disappointed with quite a few while I was there.

Nice environment/ambience but the food is so-so, certainly considering the price. I second the San Francisco contributor's opinion of the cioppino (sp?) Glacier Brewhouse (same owner, I believe) next door is a better bet in terms of food value.

“Great atmosphere & friendly service”
Reviewed August 8, 2006

My husband and I ate lunch during the week, they were having a $9.99 lunch special. You had a choice of about five entrees, drink was included and a dessert "treat" at the end. It was a wonderful meal and our waiter was very friendly. The food was delicious.

“Great food”
Reviewed July 6, 2006

We had a great meal at Orso and the service was excellent. The menu was definitely Italian, but they offered local seafood including salmon and Alaskan king crab. The restaurant was very busy, but the wait staff was attentive. The food is not cheap, but you do get an excellent meal for your money.

“Best fine dining experience in ANC”
Reviewed June 19, 2006

My two fine dining experiences in Anchorage were Simon's and Orso. While the view at Simon's is unique, the food and warm environs at Orso are unparalleled. The appetizers, entrees and desserts were all to die for. Definitely leave room for their desserts -- they are not your usual sickly sweet, butter-laden concoctions, but rather light, airy and perfect after a nice meal. My compliments to the chef and pastry chef!
