The view is awesome. Food was good but portions are on the smaller size & presentation was impressive. Prices are high & there are other places with food that was just as good for less money.

I have been to this restaurant over a dozen times. The place is consistent - and worthy of getting a reservation. While many like the Macadamia crusted halibut, if they have halibut cheeks get them instead. Salmon - if it is in season they will tell you and get it- they cook it consistently to perfection. Do not ask for salmon medium or well done unless you have no palate at all. The local berry deserts are always great, season is in late summer. If you get there early the bar is a place where you can have a good drink and enjoy the view.

At first glance it seems curious that a restaurant would be located on the second floor of an office building, but when you catch your first glimpse of the spectacular view, you get the idea. The decor is early 20th century east coast restaurant (a definite plus, in case you were wondering) and decor, view and food come together in a top ten package. We decided to have lunch because of S&S's top ten ranking on Trip Advisor, and we were not disappointed. As best I can recall, we were told they have been around for 30 years and at this location for 20-some years.

Simon and Seafort's gives every indication of being one of those local restaurants which, with continued attention, could become a multigenerational restaurant icon....one with the potential to persist and thrive over 50 or even 100 years.

It is difficult to characterize the facility (which may be its strength), because it is somewhere between steak-and-seafood with local flare and expanded pub fare.

Check out their menu on the Web for a clearer insight (and to make a reservation). One "must:" the (New England or "white") clam chowder. Truly extraordinary!

Service was attentive; we had a trainee who was closely watched over by an (obviously) assigned mentor, and while there were a few minor glitches (the check we were initially handed was for a table of six, a bit saltier than we were expecting), but nothing to detract materially from an overall memorable experience.

This was where my wife and I chose to eat on the last night of our trip to Alaska and we picked a good place! The staff was very friendly, very polite, and very nicely dressed. You could tell this was a good place with the locals as three anniversaries were celebrated within sight of our table.

The food was very good. I had a Copper River King Salmon that did not disappoint, and my wife had the Halibut Cheeks. We both had wedges that were fresh and crisp. They had a special s'more dessert that was just big enough and rich enough to properly conclude the evening.

Simon & Seafort's was a happy place to be as there was lots of laughter being shared over properly strong drinks. It's a fun atmosphere that can work for a family, a romantic evening, or a jovial gathering. I'd recommend.

One tip: Parking is validated at the Captain Cook parking deck about a block away. No reason to use the pay lot right next door if you don't mind the stroll!

I have lived in Anchorage 32 years and Simon's food and service is consistent. The prime rib is the best and the seafood is what Alaska is about. The service is also the best. And don't forget the Spinach salad with the mustard dressing and for dessert the Brandy Ice. Yum!!
