Simon and Seafort's Saloon and Grill has been serving outstanding food and drink for as long as I can remember (I've been dining there since the early eighties). Walking in, you'll be first struck by two sensations. First, the delightful smells of food being prepared in full view of customers. Second, the view. Simon's sits on the bluff right downtown overlooking upper Cook Inlet. In the summer you can see cruise ships and cargo ships and tugboats moving about. Beluga whales are also commonly seen chasing salmon in the inlet. In the winter you'll see the floe ice moving in and out with the tide. The ambiance in amazing. The food, however, is equally unforgettable. In my opinion Simon's has the best seafood in town, hands down. In addition, their prime rib is awesome, the spinach salad is to die for, and the creme' brulee is a signature dessert. If good "spirits" are of interest, Simon's has the most extensive Scotch whisky bar I have ever seen. The bar is separate from the restaurant, but food is served there as well. The bar menu is great. We dine there regularly and have never ever been disappointed. Don't miss it.
