“Fun and good”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

This place is really busy. You should do their version of reservations. We had fun sitting at the counter and watching the action. Everyone there is friendly. Unbelievably extensive menu. A person could have fun cruising though it...and really put on a lot of weight.

“Salmon is not for breakfast.”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

When in Paris... so I ordered Salmon cakes with my eggs and hash browns. The very strong fishy taste isn't for me at breakfast , nor anytime for these. The others at table had variations of Eggs Benedict and said they were most tasty. Our waitress disappeared for quite some time and coffee refills etc... could have been better. It was a busy place and quite popular with locals and tourists alike.

“Yummy”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

We had a great breakfast here. The restaurant was just a short walk from our hotel. We had about a 15 to 20 minute wait, but it was worth it. The place is clean as were the restrooms. The coffee was hot and very good. The omelet was very good as were the potatoes. The sourdough bread was tasty as well. The wait staff was friendly, but not overly so, they were pleasant and quick considering how busy they were. We walked back later in the day for a fruit smoothie and a float and these were good as well and not skimpy. The prices were reasonable .

“Disappointing, might give it another try”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

This restaurant came highly recommended by some friends we trust, so our expectations were high. We put our names in and waited and waited, about 45 minutes - wish we had remembered to call ahead, because we had been told you can call in to be put on the wait list. Our wait person was friendly, so friendly we waited to place our order while she gave directions and suggestions to some tourists at another table. We ordered the crabby omelet - crab, swiss cheese, avocado and scallions. I liked the taste combination, my companion thought the swiss was not the best match with the other ingredients and also likes her eggs cooked more, not so soft that it came close to being runny. The omelets came with hash browns and toast - I had whole wheat, my companion had rye, which both tasted like they had been baked that day. Unfortunately, after we had gotten most of the way thru our meal, we found a long black hair in my companion's omelet. What a turn off. We showed it to the server and without us even asking, she took the cost of that meal off the bill. The vibe seems like a true neighborhood place. But after waiting so long, the food just didn't live up to the hype. Too bad.

“Great breakfast, worth the hour wait”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

The Snow City Cafe was highly rated by everyone we talked to in Anchorage and they were right. We walked three blocks from our hotel to this restaurant at about 9 a.m. and there was a long waiting line, we were there on a Sunday morning. We were provided with a "buzzer" that would go off when it was our turn to go to a table. There was adequate seating in the waiting area and outside. The restaurant had coffee urns by the door and provided free coffee and tea while we waited. This restaurant is only open until 3 or 4 p.m. and serves breakfast and lunch all the time. The menu is amazing. They had dozens of egg and pancake choices. Keep in mind restaurants in Alaska have high food prices, this one seemed reasonable. I had an eggs Benedict combo, one egg with a crab cake and one with salmon, for $15; my wife had an eggs Benedict with vegetables, including avocado. The food was perfect, well worth the wait. We would have returned for lunch or breakfast the following day, but our schedule would not allow it.
