Description: Located in one of the oldest homes in Anchorage, The Marx Bros. Cafe specializes in innovative contemporary cuisine featuring fresh Alaskan seafood and only the finest quality meats. Our chef revises the menu each night to reflect unique ingredients and imaginative preparations. Our cuisine is expertly paired with an extensive selection of wines housed in one of Alaska's largest cellars. Welcomed at the door by partner Van Hale, guests are at once immersed in a quaintly elegant atmosphere provided by our original town-site house and tasteful table settings. The evening is guided with unrivaled service by our subtle, accomplished staff. With only 14 tables in our house, we serve an average of 60 guests each night. Reservations are highly recommended. Please contact the restaurant directly if you are unable to get the time or party size requested online.

We dined here last night as a post-marathon celebration, and everything was amazing. This is an intimate, cozy place owned by people with a lifelong passion for creating amazing meals that are well served. One of the owners (Van) greeted us at the door, made our salad table-side, and catches salmon himself for the restaurant. We ordered appetizers, salads, mains, and dessert, and the only problem was we were too full to finish everything! Wine suggestions were outstanding. Thanks to the staff for a truly memorable evening that was perfect in every way.

This restaurant came highly recommended to us and overall we were really glad we went.d service was at times a bit over-the-top constantly feeling our water glasses and several different people checking in on us so it got a little overwhelming.for appetizers we had the halibut cheeks (fabulous) and seafood mousse (left us flat) the Caesar salad is a must the portion is large for a dinner salad but it is exceptional. for entrees we had the filet mignon( very slightly overcooked) and the
venison (just right) the side dishes were very tasty.unfortunately we had to catch a plane so we did not have time for dessert the wine list is extensive I enjoyed my selection.one thing we would like to mention that does detract from their ambiance is that we were sitting at the window and saw that staff members were constantly going downstairs and outside they must have freezers or storage there but it seems excessive and definitely detracted from our enjoyment of our meal.overall we had a very good experience and would recommend them and if we are back in anchorage we would visit them again.

When the Owner is there to greet you, you know you're in the right place. Coming from Guatemala, greetings by Van were the first step in making me like this restaurant, the second is the ellegance of the venue, third classy table setting, and fourth, but not last, the excellent choice of food and wow, the extensive wine list from everywhere!!

I have heard about Marx Brothers since the 1980's.
Finally, we had the chance to visit and it was a fantastic way to end our visit to Alaska.
The owners and staff treated us as special guests. The personality of the Cafe goes with a fine restaurant in old Anchorage.
The menu, presentation, and quality of the food is the best I have had in years! What a way to enjoy fine seafood.
Make the opportunity to dine here - it doesn't get any better!

Dinner this past Saturday was eagerly anticipated by my 4 grandchildren, my daughter and me. It was our last night in Alaska. We booked atthe Marx Bros as a result of checking with TA. The table was ready on time and we were seated in a private parlor. Service was crisp & attentive. We were served a table in a private ding parlor. Each meal was perfectly prepared begun with a table side Caesar recommended by another TA review. Soooo good it caused buy to eat lettuce. Every dish was perfect,
