Stayed here last fall and was happy with the price but not with the environment. Have to say we took a chance and stayed again last week for 3 nights and the new manager (or fill in) not quite sure has done a marvelous job. Everything was clean and most importantly; peaceful.

For the price the hotel is unmatched in Anchorage for choices, location, and friendliness. One night we were locked out at 3am and Lucas (the manager) somehow heard us outside and happily let us in and got us a new key all without the normal gruffness of other sleepy employees.

Kudos to whoever brought the new personal in! And to any negative reviews, if there are lately, get over it. We can say with certainty Ki, the housekeeper, and especially the manager, are doing everything they can to make this a safe affordable lodging choice in anchorage.

If you have a problem while at this establishment just talk to the manager- I'm sure he will make it right instead of anonymously writing some weak review. Have a nice time in anchorage- Janat

Room Tip: Try to get room on south side of hotel as the street side can be a little noisy during the day.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Qupqugiaq Inn.
For the price, during peak season, it can't be beat. Private bathroom, quiet corner. The shades on the windows don't block out the light very well, but I got used to it. Nice walking distance to a couple of restaurants and easy access to some main roads.

There are some strict guest policies which help keep away the less desirable crowd, so it is safe and rather quiet. It isn't for everyone, but neither is the Ritz Carlton. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a private room if available.

Staff nice. Room worn & not clean. Breakfast non-existant: cereal without milk & no mix for waffle iron. Private room with private bath was very overpriced for the level of grime in room. Television did not work. Common area for internet nice.

My husband and I stayed at Qupqugiaq Inn (good luck trying to say that ;-) on the day we reached Alaska. We found the place OK..nothing fancy...bathroom could have been cleaner...A bit quirky (weird ?!) owner/manager...but hey, what vacation is complete without the weird factor ;-) At least that's how we looked at it ...She started off saying..here are the RULES...1)....2)....Felt like it was more of a hostel than an inn...The TV in the room did not work, we let the manager know and they did not do anything about it...The breakfast (overstatement) next day was just too bad...The only edible thing was coffee...cereal was cold and stale and the waffle batter did not look appealing...We left with a feeling that we could have found something better for the money we paid!

I stayed there three nights with my son and it was perfect for us. Everything was clean and they were very accomodating when my son showed up an needed an extra bed. Getting around was exceptionally easy - great bus connections North/South or East/West right next door, taxi's if needed, and if you don't mind a ten minute walk - Walmart, a movie theatre, a huge library, all kinds of food, etc.
