“Pre-Cruise stay in Anchorage”
Reviewed June 17, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here one night prior to a Royal Caribbean Alaskan cruise. It was a pleasant taxi drive from the airport. As much cruise business as this hotel does I feel they should provide a shuttle to and from the airport. My wife and mother had a drink in the hotel bar upon arrival and it was much more expensive than it should have been. We had a free breakfast on the club level and it was great except there was no meat. I like bacon or sausage with my scrambled eggs. The service at the hotel was very good. The rooms were comfortable. There is not a lot to do right around the hotel. We booked our cruise through a travel agency but Royal Caribbean had a base of operations set up at the hotel and it appeared that most of the people at the hotel were on our cruise. The hotel was perfect for what we needed but a bit on the expensive side.

Spent two nights here post cruise. Good hotel, good location would stay again. Wanted to just make note of the extremely helpful desk person named Casey. He was friendly and professional and very helpful when we had some internet issues.

We stayed at the Anchorage Marriott for two nights prior to a Royal Caribbean land tour and the hotel was great. The cab ride to the hotel from the Ted Stevens international airport was about $17. The bell-hop met us at our cab and handled the luggage from the trunk to our room. We arrived before official check-in time but were accommodated without any issue- if you are really early, most hotels will hold your luggage while you go see sights.

We were given a spotless & beautiful king-bed room on the 20th floor that had an excellent view of the snowcapped mountains around the valley. The sleep was great and comfortable- I hated to get out of bed! The room had a small refrigerator 'hidden' in the dresser as well. We had no issues with the room whatsoever but I am certain in those rare occurrences the staff would handle them professionally and promptly.

The front desk was always helpful with questions about dining and local sights. They have a nice map and will recommend activities or tell you how to get where you want to go. We left for a glacier hike early one morning and had them leave a note for the Royal Caribbean representative we needed to meet later in the afternoon- the staff was 5-Star in every way.

The hotel location is very central to downtown Anchorage. It is a short walk to great restaurants and shopping. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from Simon & Seafort’s restaurant, 8 minutes from the weekend Market, a few minutes from Glacier Brewhouse & tons of souvenir shopping.

My only complaint would be that in-room internet was $12.95. They have complimentary internet access in the lobby on two computers, but for the room price, I felt Wi-Fi should have been included.

I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there on my next trip to Anchorage.

We loved this Marriott; it was easy to get to, the staff were excellent, and they treated us well as Platinum members of Marriott Rewards. Breakfast was terrific and they allowed me to take it up to my room for my family. I highly recommend the hotel.

Hat tip to Seda, who was working the front desk upon check in.

We stayed here as part of a land tour affiliated with a cruise. It was our last night in Alaska. The room was very well-appointed and the beds were comfortable. The hotel location is convenient to the Alaska Railroad and the central part of Anchorage. We were able to easily walk to nearby restaurants, shops, and local points of interest. The bell staff were very helpful in holding luggage (2 weeks worth of clothes) until our transfer to the airport. We did eat breakfast in one of their restaurants. It was average. The staff was very friendly.

Great staff on checking in/out, including the valet staff. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable beds. Fitness Center a bit small for the size of the hotel but serviceable. If a suggestion could be made would be in the bar. When I was there, one bartender for the entire location. Trying to be attentive to all but observations was that he would get into conversations with some and ignore others. Possibly understaffed? Still, a very nice hotel that I would recommend to anyone traveling in and around the Anchorage area.
