“Expensive slop”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

For food as expensive as this place is, you would think it would be edible. The bread they served was hard as a rock. The filet mignon was passable at best. The potatoes were cold and the salad was brown and wilted. I would have been better off eating a number 7 at McDonald's that had been left under the heating lamp for three hours.

“Chocolate Lemon Cake! Yummy!”
Reviewed February 1, 2013 via mobile

We picked up 3 desserts on my last night in Anchorage...The negresco, chocolate lemon cake and orange candy cheesecake...although all were delicious...lemon cake, well, took the cake! It entailed a lemony flavored cake sandwiched over a sweet lemony cream with nice chunks of zest all covered by a nice layer of creamy chocolate. The negresco, i thought would be an overpowering chocolaty richness...not the case...it was more a perfect balance of flavor and light fluffiness. Now, the orange candy ny cheesecake, i wasn't thrilled by the first bite as I'm conditioned to a sweet fruit cheesecake, however, after spooning off a later of the candy to leave behind a tiny film...it was delicious...i would order again and repeat procedure! Also, i have to mention the service there was knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining with their personal reviews of pastries!

“Paris Cafe & Bakery a real treat”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Have been going to the Paris Bakery for lunch & dinner for last couple of years. Some say that they think the location & /or ambiance are not what they expected. But the owners have been changing the interior for the better the last few months & it is enlarged, comfortable & very pleasing, I have never had a bad meal here nor have any of my dining companions. The owners are a French couple & do a very nice job. The desserts are wonderful too. They also do a special meal every month ( I think it is) that is a combination of foods from a different region of France. I have not tried it as yet but it is on my "to do" list. It is well worth the effort to find this restaurant.

“Appearances are deceiving”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Although we were struggling with an icey parking lot and the 'strip mall' ambience outside, inside the service was excellent, and the food was wonderful. We will definitely go back and try breakfast, which another patron said was worth the trip. I don't like fussy or loud, and this was neither. The menu had enough variety to please everyone and the dessert choices were impressive. We will go back.

“Unexpected surprise”
Reviewed November 13, 2012

The last place I expected to find authentic fine French cuisine was in a nondescript cafe nestled in a shady-looking strip mall. I've experienced the pretentious displays of classic French establishments on the east coast, as well as the hole-in-the-wall 'Mom and Pop' places in the Pacific states. None of them compare to the understated elegance and commitment to quality that's embraced by Paris Bakery and Cafe's, which we recently experienced during a dinner visit. It's obvious their focus is on the food, so if you're hoping for posh seating furniture and decorator-designed lighting, don't waste your time. But if you're an Alaskan craving a departure from the "good enough"- and seeking delicate flavors that epitomize the culinary arts- this is well worth a trip to Muldoon. I'll admit to having become conditioned to the food scene up here, where ingredients have been frozen at one time or another, and quality components are simply too expensive for the average restaurant to afford. To fully experience fresh, expertly-prepared food is a rare luxury, so the entire visit was quite a treat. Dessert is a must, even for those like me who doesn't have a sweet tooth. The service was professional and attentive, but in a relaxed, comfortable way. We can't wait to go back, especially for their once-monthly region-inspired feasts!
