“Awesome adventure”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

I took a tour in April, so prtage lake was still covered in snow and ice, but because I ended up being the only one on my tour we decided to walk out to the glacier across the lake. It was so much fun and we got to get some great pics of the glacier and even heard them crackling and popping, which I have to admit was a little freaky being that close to them. If that ends up being part of the tour you take, be warned, it's about 6 miles, but TOTALLY worth it. The wildlife center was great with lots of different animals to take pics of.

“Best tour ever!”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

My wife and I took a tour with Alaska's Finest Tours & Cruises in mid-February and we had a blast. Our tour guide, Ben was very personable and friendly. Our tour took us to some unexpected but amazing places. We stopped at the Alaska Native hospital to see Native artwork. We stopped along the roadside to take a drink from a mountain spring. Then we went to the Alaskan Wildlife Conservation Center. For a pleasant surprise, we took a trip to Whittier. Ben was very knowledgeable about the local history. He is passionate and enjoys his job and is always wanting to learn more. Bring your camera because you will get plenty of great photo opportunities. By the end of the trip, it seemed more like a friend (that you pay) taking you around. He was more than willing to go out of his way to give us the best experience.

Anchorage is not dead in the winter. If you fine yourself in the Anchorage area in the winter (preferably a weekend because the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is open on weekends in the winter), book a tour with Alaska's Finest Tours & Cruises, you will not regret it!

“Awesome adventure in Alaska.”
Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

Took a cruise tour through Alaska in May. Train and bus tours are a must because you get a better experience of the interior. May is a good time to go to see sights; however, not a lot of animals are out and about. If you want to see more animals, then go in June or later.

“Amazing Day Tour!”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

We were working on a shoestring budget and some of the other glacier tours were out of our range (luckily, since several of the days we were here they actually had to cancel the on-water glacier tours because of weather!0, so we contacted this tour company which was more reasonably priced. Turned out, we were too late for the water-based glacier tours because they do close down that part in the middle of September, but the land-based alternative sounded good, so we booked it. I have to say, it was an awesome day! Ben, the owner and tour guide, was terrific, gave us info, laughs and a day to remember. We started out in Anchorage and, since I expressed my disappointment that the Alaska Heritage Village Center had shut down for the winter, Ben suggested an alternative we would never have known about or thought off - the Native Medical Center, which houses an incredible display of native artifacts and artwork from all of the tribes in Alaska. That started our tour on a great note, then we went down the Turnagain Arm, spotting Beluga whales, learning about the history and culture, visiting the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to view bears, coyote, bald eagles, lynx, bison and other animals in natural habitats. We went on to view the glaciers, dipping hands into the beautiful green-blue waters at the base of multiple impressive glaciers, visited the Alyeska Resort to view their artifacts and other features, stopped to view some incredible art carved with chainsaw (of all things!), and just had a totally enjoyable, memorable experience. I definitely recommend the tours offered by Alaska's Finest.

“Great one-day snapshot tour!”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

(This review is of the tour company, not the attractions that are visited, they get their own reviews.) This tour looked like a great opportunity for our rather short visit to see some of the natural sights. We booked the day before, and managed to the the significant discount - make sure to call or email before the day of the tour and you'll get a good discount too! The bus was a little late picking us up, but we were soon on the road. Had a quick stop out near the bay at the airport, before heading up Turnagain Arm. Had a couple of stops there before visiting the Wildlife Centre, a very scenic stop by the side of the road, and then headed out to Portage Glacier for the cruise. All up a most enjoyable trip, and our guide was very friendly, informative, and happy to take photos of us. Recommended to those with a short trip window and want to cram a bit in to ~6 hours.
