“GREAT EXPERIENCE”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

We did the Family explorer trip and absolutely loved it! Our guides were fantastic and super knowledgable about the area and obviously loved what they do. The children immediately bonded from our first hike and began to play their own version of capture the flag and whiffle ball back at our camp site. We saw as much as we could possibly see within 2 weeks. Some of our highlights included glacier trekking, ice climbing, kayaking through ice bergs, tons of wildlife and beautiful hikes. We have the BEST pictures! Geoff was kind enough to help us book a week on our own in Alaska before our Get Up and Go tour began, which was a phenomenal family week on our own. We highly recommend Get Up and Go!

“An Amazing Adventure!”
Reviewed August 21, 2013

We wanted to take a moment of your time to let you know what a wonderful adventure we had. The trip was well planed out and included a snippet of a little bit of what Alaska has to offer. We would highly recommend this trip and appreciate the time and effort made.

Mike and I have been on many adventures together and have to admit that this was one of the best trips we have been on. Our group was small, which allowed us to become more like a family.

Jen was our Alaskan mom! It was great to have such an amazing guide. She was extremely knowledgable and well versed. She was a big hit with all of us. The lunches were great and please extend a big thank you to Jen for making our trip extra special by being so genuine and caring.

Even with Mike not feeling well the first few days-our adventure with Get Up and Go was amazing. We celebrated our 11th year anniversary together with our new found friends and Alaskan mom (although more like a friend).

We will never forget our adventure and hope to see Jen in the near future. Once we arrive back home-we will share some great photos.

Thank you Get Up and Go!

“Fun and Frolic in Alaska with Get Up and Go”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

My husband and 22-year old son went on the lodge-based Alaska Explorer trip in the beginning of July. In addition to us three, there were 4 others, plus our wonderful guide Terrence. The trip is arranged so that you spend 3 nights in Denali and 3 nights in McCarthy so you can really get a feel for the areas. The cabins in Denali (McCarthy Creekside Cabins) and the rehabilitated brothel in McCarthy were lovely - clean, rustic, with good beds!

Alaska is Big Country, so I didn't anticipate how much time we'd be driving. That being said, we'd always stop to meet interesting people, take a hike, have a picnic lunch, check out the Salmon fishing, and of course, brake for beautiful scenery.

The shuttle bus day in Denali is a long one (about 8 hours). Our group opted to get out of the bus and take a short hike at Stony Dome. We were so thankful we did - just to stretch our legs and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the park (not to mention a very close encounter with Bullwinkle, the moose).

My favorite day was 4th of July in McCarthy, which celebrates as only a very small town can - pie-eating contests, egg-tosses. That meant we forfeited the Bonanza Mine trail, but did get to see the beautiful sights from the flight into McCarthy and from the Glacier trek. We also did the tour of the Kennecott mine (because I love the history of the place). Finally, the sea kayak in Valdez was also beautiful, even in the drizzle.

What I appreciate about Get Up and Go is that it tries to use local Alaskan vendors for dining and lodging. That means great stories to share at dinner and breakfast - close encounters with Grizzlies, Moose, and Musicians. Our guide Terrence was such an interesting and open guy - not to mention knowledgeable. And if he didn't know, the extensive library in the van would typically give the answer.

“The perfect way to see Alaska”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

The 10 day Alaskan Explorer trip was perfect for us (parents and 2 children in their early 20's from England). There was good food, comfortable accommodation, excellent company in the group of 11 people and plenty of activities to enable us to experience the best of this wonderful state.
Our guide John was very knowledgeable, well organised and a great guide. We had a wonderful time hiking, wild life viewing, kayaking and glacier trekking. The 1 hour flight was incredible and all activities were included in the price. I would recommend Get Up and Go tours to anyone who was looking for something more than a cruise.
