Enjoyed the bike ride, but the roar of the planes from Anchorage airport and the trail construction made this our least favorite bike ride of the trip.

The trail follows the coastline right in Anchorage. We rented bicycles from Lifetime Adventures right in downtown near the trail. You have to stop near earthquake park and hang out on top of the hill for a bit. You can see the airplanes take off from the airport and they are really low and loud - pretty cool! The trail is in good shape and has a nice view the whole way.

We loved our ride around Anchorage on the Coastal Trail. Part of it was closed for construction, but the part we saw was really great!

We saw beluga whales, 12 miles is a great length. Wonderful people. Saw three moose. Perfect bike riding place and also to walk.

If you run or bike ride, you have to check out the coastal trail. My wife and I are training for a race, and not knowing Anchorage very well, opted to head to this trail for a long run. Not only was it the most beautiful 2 hour run ever, we saw 8 moose, 3 of which were babies. Apparently, moose sighting are more common on the trail than people sightins.
