“Awesome Food”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

Appearance-wise, the White Spot Cafe leaves a lot to be desired. The interior could use an update (where's Chef Robert? and the Restaurant Impossible gang), but the food is fabulous!! The burgers, the halibut and the homemade fries are to die for!!! Best in town, easily.

“Great grub, always packed”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

Although I've lived in Anchorage for over 20 years, I can probably count the number of visits to the White Spot Cafe on one hand. That's not because the food is bad - quite the contrary. The hang-up is that the place is ridiculously small. Between the few tables and counter seats, the place holds about 20-25 people, tops. Your best bet is to avoid the peak lunch hour and go a bit earlier or later than noon.

The place makes a great burger. The owner/cook slings the patties on the griddle, along with bacon, onions, mushrooms, you name it. The big, oversized buns get brushed with melted butter and toasted on the griddle. When the whole burger comes together with lettuce and tomatoes, it's delicious. The french fries look like they have been fresh cut from potatoes, and are really good, too. The couple squeezed in at the counter next to us both had the halibut sandwich, and highly recommended it. Mrs. frsbdg had the halibut plate, which was hand-breaded to order and deep fried to a crispy golden brown.

Besides the cook, there's his daughter serving the food. Between the two of them, they're plenty busy preparing and serving the food. Really, the only downside to the place is the difficulty getting a seat. But when you do, it's going to be worth it.

“Best Little White Spot”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Local favorite spot. Eclectic decor, fabulous fried halibut sandwich. Don't plan on sitting down to eat. Seating very limited. Call ahead and they will have your fried halibut sandwich waiting when you arrive.

“Best cheeseburger in town”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

If you have a longing for a cheeseburger and fries like you use to get at the lunch counters of days gone by, this is the place. Their burgers are quite large and they do not skimp on anything. It is a little hole-in-the-wall place with a couple tables and a few stools at the counter. During lunch hour it will be packed. But if if you get there after the lunch rush you usually can find a place to sit. Just don't wait to long as they close at 3pm.
