I really don't write bad reviews but felt our experience warranted this review:
My husband & I traveled to Anchorage with our 3 month old for the first time. I recognize that July is peak season here, however we arrived and received little to no priority or consideration by the front desk. We were first given a room on the 3rd floor, told they "had a better one with a view but this is what they have now." The whole floor smelled so intensely of cigarette smoke (again keeping in mind we are traveling with an infant) that I had to request a different floor. The second room was equally terrible- a room which had no view at all (right up against another building and an angled corner of our building), and right next to a noisy elevator. They managed to give us two of their worst rooms for a week. Valet was the only option $30 a day, and half the time it was full. I also do not recommend room service. I made the mistake doing this once and the food was horribly greasy and not worth the cost.
On the positive, the valet was very friendly & the hotel is located walking distance to shops which is convenient. I rationalized I wouldn't be spending too much time in the room but still extremely unimpressed. More
