“Disappointing”

We stayed at the Hampton in Anchorage on July 1, 2012. We found the room with disgustingly dirty carpet with huge stains that my shoe stuck to. The room smelled musty and the bathtub/Shower was not clean and had mildew between tub and water resistant wall units which had previously been caulked over but was also growing again. When we went up to desk manager asking for another room she sent us further down the hall from the first floor room we already had. Upon entering here, we discovered the same bathroom situation plus a very noisy A/C that vibrated and rattled. Carpet also dirty. We were no better off with this room so we went back and were told no more rooms.....since it was almost 10 p.m. at this point and we were leaving for our cruise in the morning, we decided to stick it out for one night. Discovered no washcloths, and one hand towel and no amenities(shampoo & etc.) Was a horrible night stay! By pass this one folks -- I travel over 150 days a year and am an Honors member and have never seen a Hampton in this bad of shape. I can't believe they are putting people in the room we had and to charge such huge price and advertsing the Hampton Inn 100% guarantee! I sent a survery to the Hampton and heard nothing back. Am guessing I won't....disappointed in the Hampton! Definitely not worth over $200!!!

Date of stay: Saturday, June 30, 2012

We stayed one night on our way to Kenai and was glad we were not staying more than one night.

The staff at the front desk were very helpful and nice but our room smelled like someone had smoked in it. Not sure why, we were on the top floor so maybe this floor was previously used as the smoking level but there was the lingering smell of old cigarettes in the room. I was glad to leave.

Pool was small but adequate and they did have a VERY SMALL exercise room.

While on vacation in Alaska an unexpected problem required me to go to Anchorage late on the evening of June 19, 2012. We tried to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, which was booked, but the desk manager was quite friendly and helpful, and made arrangements with the desk manager at the nearby Hampton Inn for us to have their last unbooked room. They even worked out what the room rate would be as I stood at the front desk, and the Hampton desk manager agreed not to rent their last room to anyone else. We made a further reservation with the Hilton Garden Inn for the next weekend, and then drove the short distance to the Hampton, where the same desk manager who had committed on the room and rate informed us that she had rented the room to someone else. If you appreciate good service and honored commitment stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, not the Hampton.

We needed a hotel for one night prior to our cruise departure. This hotel easily fit the bill from start to finish. You can use the hotel phones at the airport to call the hotel and then the shuttle picks you up right outside baggage claim. It's about a 10 minute drive to the hotel. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was small but well furnished and clean. There were blackout curtains in place which were much needed due to a sunset time of 11:45 PM and sunrise at about 4 AM. A giant plus is that the shuttle service is also available to take you around town and then bring you back. We were able to go downtown, walk around and sight see, have dinner, and then call the hotel for a prompt shuttle pick up, all for no charge other than a tip for the very helpful driver. Breakfast was good and offered a wide selection of items. The room was far more expensive than the usual Hampton Inn but it's quite understandable given the short tourist season.

All of the standards we expect from Hampton Inns were well met (like great beds, nice rooms, great free full breakfast, etc.), but the staff here were especially helpful to a couple of tired seniors at the end of a long trip. We had a night flight back from Anchorage to Houston, but needed to check out by noon - which left us facing a long day at the airport. When we explained our problem, they assured us we could check out on time (to avoid any additional cost), and they would hold our luggage (including carry-ons until we were ready to go to airport). We went out to eat, then spent most of the afternoon in the hotel lobby, where the staff constantly checked on us, brought us hot chocolate, etc (it was a cold day). I can't say enough about their concern and helpfulness. Thanks to a really people-oriented staff at this lovely hotel.

One nice thing about Anchorage is that just about every hotel in the city is 10-15 minutes from the airport. The Hampton and Hilton Garden (across the street) will shuttle you to or from the airport. Applebee's is in their parking lot; LoneStar Grill is half a block away. This hotel is on par with all Hampton Inns so you'll get what you expect. That's why I stay at Hampton or Hilton Garden, I know what I get, which is primarily a free breakfast. The beds were ok. Front Desk was efficient. Housekeeping was very good cleaning room.

After a 5 1/2 hour flight from Denver, it was nice to get to a clean and comfortable hotel. The staff has been very friendly and accommodating. Apparently, many of us on the same flight were booked into this hotel and there was some wonky communication with one of the shuttle drivers, but they worked hard to get us all here as fast as possible.

It's been nice and quiet, and even the coffee in the room isn't bad. Would definitely stay here again.
