Award winning restaurant, and deservedly so. Impeccable service and presentation, with a menu choice to suit all palates. Attention to detail, enhances the overall experience, and lovers of good food should certainly not miss this place, when in the area.
Ideal for special occasions, although personally I would be happy to use any excuse to return and enjoy more of this extensive menu selection.

Delightful Auberge! Food excellent with unobtrusive service. Good value with entrees at £20 although wines, excellent selection from £20 upwards per bottle.

This is a modern and pleasant well-equipped hotel with a rather disappointing restaurant.

Rooms and facilities looked modern and were spotless but not everything worked as expected. We asked for a room with shower, and got a room with bath and an apology but no explanation. Separate WC had no wash basin, and bath plug wasn't connected to anything to enable it to be removed easily. Promised free internet access didn't work for me (network unable to assign a network address) and hotel staff were unable to help. Tea-making facilities provided but no fridge. Only 5 coat-hangers - rather mean. Our room was at the back and overlooked the very pleasant garden (the zoo is across the road at the front, so we didn't hear the zoo animals). Room at 68 euros and breakfasts at 9.50 were reasonable value.

Despite the interesting Saumur region wine list, this hotel restaurant offers a very traditional hotel restaurant menu. The 25 euros set menu was nothing out of the ordinary and was rather expensive for the cuisine offered. Starters were pleasant but unexceptional. Mains of magret de canard and lapin were both served identically - with puréed vegetables, tomato, and a small segment of hash browns. Duck and rabbit both a bit overcooked (we weren't asked how we wanted them - we got the rabbit bien cuit and the duck medium). Desserts of sorbets and mango mousse were nicely-presented. Service was mixed - we waited 25 minutes to give our order, then our aperitif, amuse bouches and wine arrived very quickly, followed very soon by our starters and bread. 'Gourmet' coffee was indistinguishable from regular French restaurant coffee. OK but disappointing for a hotel restaurant in the Michelin Red and Green guides. There's a nice pizzeria opposite called the Primavera grill which is cheap and cheerful which is where we went on our second night.

We stayed in Auberge Bienvenue en route from Roscoff to Dordogne; very warm welcome from proprietor (husband is the chef); spacious clean room with access to lawn area with loungers; gated (free) car park; excellent restaurant; we had Sunday lunch which was memorable; proper old fashioned service from pleasant young staff.
Hotel is very reasonable; restaurant is not cheap but great value for what is provided.
Highly recommended.

This year we did a home exchange to the Loire. Like many, we have noticed that our pounds do not go very far and we began to resent paying over the odds for poor quality food. For one splurge my husband researched good places to eat and came up with this hidden gem.

Close to the Zoo in Doue la Fontaine, the outside looks like a modern built hotel, there is a hotel attached, and I was concerned that such a place could never have a decent restaurant. I should not have doubted!!!

The dining area is light and airy, the tables are not too close together that you can smell your neighbours perfume. We were shown to our table, a table of 4, as we had our two young children with us.

Like all restaurants in France, children are welcome and encouraged, unlike in Britain where by if you take to your children to a decent place, you recieve some heavy looks. The children had their own menu enfants and they had a choice of starters; mains and deserts. Except it was decent food, not a chip or nugget in sight. They were provided with pencils and colouring in sheets and the only people that glared at their presence were an elderly table of Brits!!!

We choose the Menue Saveur, which consisted of a starter, a fish course; sorbet, meat course, regional cheese and desert. From the fresh baked bread, the nibbles before the courses to the food itself, everything was delicious. At 47 euros a head, no it wasnt cheap but an equal meal in Britain would have cost at least 2 times that, and they wouldnt have been so nice to the children. There were cheaper menu options if one wanted.

The food was French regional cooking at its best.

If you are in the area and want a treat, try it for yourslef.
