My wife and I stayed here fro 10 days and the location couldn't have been better. Beaches less than 10 minutes away and shops about the same. The cottage was more than amply equipped as the owners provided everything you needed.

Good location for visiting Normandy. Best used when it's fairly warm out so that you don't have to turn on the electric heaters.

We're so sorry the weather wasn't better when you went, but we hope you enjoyed the wood burning stove and were cosy enough with the electric heaters in every room.

“True French country living experience”
Reviewed November 15, 2014 for a stay in November 2014

We rented this cottage for the first week in November, knowing that the weather in Normandy during this time can be less than perfect. We were delighted with the cottage, which is very convenient for what we had in mind, touring the various WWII sights in Normandy, and highly recommend it to anyone wishing to get a real taste of rural French living.

It is located between St Mere Eglise and Revenoville, convenient to both, literally in the middle of a farming area.

Admittedly the tourist season is past, and with it the selection of restaurants is somewhat limited, but we still found several on Alicia's list that were open.

The cottage is cozy, with a wood burning stove, a spacious kitchen, two bedrooms up, a bath, and a sun room down. Plenty of reading material and DVDs too numerous to count make evenings in a pleasure.

Give it a try - I think you'll be as pleasantly delighted as we were.

“Perfect Normandy cottage.”

I totally agree with the previous review - this is a perfect Normandy cottage! Located a few kilometers from Sainte-Mere Eglise, it is surrounded by lovely farms, and was ideal for us to visit all of the D Day sites. We shared the cottage with another couple, and found the space comfortable for all of us - we cooked many of our meals in the well fitted kitchen, and enjoyed the wood stove fires on cool nights. A very nice back yard for relaxing (and a nice respite from our days in Paris!). There are plenty of books to read (our favorite, A Normandy Tapestry) on the shelves, and many movies to watch. We rented our linens, and used the efficient washing machine several times for our clothes, hanging them up in the garden to dry. Bathroom was spacious, with good hot water. If you like French Country style, this cottage is a great example. Utah beach is a short ride away - a bit cool during our stay, but we had a picnic there anyway. By all means, go to the village market on Thursday morning if you're there - best meal we had all week was a sausage sandwich bought there! Alicia, the cottage owner, was extremely helpful with directions and advice. Tripadvisor made it easy to book.

“Excellent base to explore Normandy and get away from it all”

A lovely French cottage in the depths of the Norman countryside. 5 minutes from Ste Mere Eglise and Utah beach, and within an easy drive of Cherbourg, Valonges, Omaha Beach and Bayeux. Plenty to see and do nearby, and some great restaurants, local markets, and all the D-Day museums and history you could want. No internet or TV coverage, although there is a TV on which to enjoy a large collection of DVDs, making for a pleasant break from modern life. Very comfortable bed, good kitchen, new bathroom and other than being very cold (soon solved by a roaring log fire), we did not want for anything. The owner is excellent, responds to queries more or less instantly, gives 10% off ferry bookings, great help and advice and repaid the deposit within 24 hours of us providing bank details. Would recommend without reservation unless you do not have transport or would struggle with ten or so steep stairs.

Thank you for your review and also for your email telling us you had a good week! Normandy can be cold and damp during certain months of the year but we do provide an excellent log stove (see photos) and electric radiators in every room, plus copious hot water. We also advise people that the house may not be suitable if you have serious health issues. It’s a charming, well equipped cottage in unspoilt countryside where you can escape TV and internet bombardment, though free WiFi is seven minutes away. We advise visitors to ask questions regarding their needs before paying for a reservation, rather than wait till afterwards.
