Owner description: The Airborne Museum, situated in the square of Sainte-Mere-Eglise, a few miles from D-Day landing beaches, facing the church where John Steele famously was caught, relates the heroic adventure of paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division. Through a spectacular museography, the Airborne Museum takes you through the D-Day alongside American paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division. From the invasion preparations in England through the battles for liberation, meet the Airborne troops and accompany them on their journey to Victory.

This is a very nice museum. I was amazed with the amount of items that they display.
The organization of the items in the museum is excellent.
You can park for free next to the church (which is across the street).
Highly recommended museum for anybody interested in World War 2!

If parachuting behind enemy lines sounds dangerous, look at the Waco Glider. Then look at some of the numerous photos of nearby fields that were landing zones. Read some of the personal accounts, and don't forget to look at the pile of supplies the troops jumped with!

Great museum with all exhibits being original items. A novel approach to building housing glider to accommodate wing span. Souvenir shop. Charge for entry. Rest Room facilities. Local church worth a visit. The free car park has an abundance of trees which have sprung up since those days in June 1944. As with all these locations in Normandy a must visit.

If you have any interest in D Day 1944. If you want a real and realistic up close and personal flavour of the hows and whens and whats and whys of D day 1944. Then this place simply must be on your schedule.
To begin with, it is easy to find and easy to acess. Parking on the village square in Ste Mere Eglise is free and ample. Entrance to the museum is not expensive and value for money.
The outside of the museum contains actual items of armoured vehicles and large field pieces. Inside the museum there are all sorts of items actually used during La Liberation, from the uniforms and arms of GIs through other items used by corpmen and even chaplains. One section of the museum houses a full sized C47 Skytrain, the plane which delivered many of the airborne troops. You can walk through this plane and wonder at the conditions in which the troops flew. There is also a small souvenir shop at the museum exit.
Do not miss this attraction.
