Owner description: The Airborne Museum, situated in the square of Sainte-Mere-Eglise, a few miles from D-Day landing beaches, facing the church where John Steele famously was caught, relates the heroic adventure of paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division. Through a spectacular museography, the Airborne Museum takes you through the D-Day alongside American paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division. From the invasion preparations in England through the battles for liberation, meet the Airborne troops and accompany them on their journey to Victory.

A wide range of real equipment, with informative displays, including a C047 (Dakota) and a Waco glider.

“Not just about paratroopers”
Reviewed November 9, 2012 via mobile

Lots of exhibits inside and out. 20€ for a family of 4 is not bad. Lots of history about the German general. Also interesting exhibits of what the stuff the WW II soldiers have to carry.

“Worth the visit”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

Very comprehensive and well done museum for the size of the town. So much history associated with the airborne services and glider pilots.

“Great Little Museum”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Really interesting little museum about the liberation of the area. I took my six year old son and he was really interested in all of the history and the exhibits.

It is not a big place, but a nice way to introduce particularly younger people to a fascinating period of recent history.

Look out for John Steele opposite hanging in his parachute off the Church!
