Normandy Inn

We stayed here with our two teenagers , 17 and 14. We stayed in room 4. The hosts, Kevin and Steve, were charming , and friendly. The kids loved the cats (outdoor), feeding the donkeys and searching for the goats. Normandy Inn was our home base for three nights- touring WW II sites and day trip to both St Malo and Mont St Michel. Breakfast which is included was very satisfying.

We highly recommend Normandy Inn.

We arrived at Normandy Inn about 4 hours after driving off eurotunnel at Calais. Thankfully, the mid-June rain had stopped. The friendly owners, Kevin and Steve, were immediately on hand to greet us, show us around and generally acquaint us with their corner of La Manche. The four guest rooms are in one building and the owners live in a separate building on the other side of the driveway. We stayed in room 3 on the first floor, which is a good-sized double room with an extra single bed doubling up as a sitting area plus an ensuite shower room. No soap or other toiletries are provided. Decor and furnishings are simple and minimalistic - Ikea-like, really - and it was impressive that there wasn't a single scuff mark on the white walls. A window under the eaves gives a picturesque view across the garden of the rolling countryside.

Normandy Inn has about five acres of land and includes three ponds - one with an amusing duck house, - an old oven that used to provide bread for the hamlet and various derelict buildings. A menagerie of goats, donkeys, dogs and cats add to the appeal, particularly for families with children.

A generous continental breakfast is served in the dining area at times to suit guests and includes cereals, orange juice, croissants, bread, cheese and meats, jams and small cakes. This is included in the basic 68 euro double room rate.

Local restaurants are limited to 'Les Bruyeres', run by a young French couple, but with rather limited evening opening hours (reviewed separately), so eating involves some sort of drive or preparing a meal in the kitchen and dining area provided for guests. The nearby town of Villedieu-les-Poeles has plenty of restaurants and creperies and we had a good meal at the intriguingly named Le Pussoir Fidele.

All in all, a delightful B&B in a picturesque setting. Personally, we'd be happy to pay a bit more for slightly more luxury. And given it's rural setting, an honesty bar and the availability of basic provisions - cheeses, charcuterie and breads, for instance - for a light meal would be very welcome.

We came to Normandy to see both Mont st Michel and the D-day beaches. The house just between the two. We were very warmly welcomed and (english) hosts were great. The place is nicely revamped and is very clean. The breakfast is nicely served and has different cheese everyday. We really loved our stay here and can recommend to anyone

We have been travelling throughout France and Europe quite extensively, often choosing B&B accomodations; this time we were together with our little girls (aged 2 and 5) and it was just perfect !
The location is excellent, in the very heart of the countryside, peaceful and calm.
The four guests’ rooms are located in a separate house, just in front of the hosts’ home, with a dedicated and comfortable entry, a wide living room and a clean and well equipped kitchen.
We had a big family room with a nice bathroom, perfectly clean. Clean as the design, simple and modern at the same time, with a tasteful stylish touch and care for details.
The outdoor is also very nice, with beautiful flowers all around and with few animals (a couple of gooses, two donkeys, a few goats ... and two nice cats) well-maintained and not disturbing at all, as they are kept a few steps away from the guests’ house and you only get in touch with them if you wish to. By the way our girls did like them a lot.
As reported above we had a kitchen at our disposal, which is very practical expecially with childrens.
The breakfast was excellent, both in quality and quantity: cheese, ham, fresh fruits, musli, fresh croissants and pastries, two fruit-jams, fresh bread, fresh milk, tea, coffee and chocolate for children ... anything you might need for a great day-start ... served on a wide and spacious table, with very comfortable chairs.
And finally our hosts, Kevin and Steven, they were extremely friendly, warm with discretion , very professional and attentive to all of our needs; on the day we left, we had the chance to spend some value-time together and it was sincerely a pleasure to talk with them both!
We definetly recommend this B&B, without any hesitation. We’ll certainly be back as soon as possible!

We stayed 3 nights at Normandy-Inn at the end of September. We chose it based on the Trip Advisor reviews and were very happy with our stay there. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

The B&B is set in bucolic countryside - almost more English than England with its little roads and hedgerows. Kevin and Steve were excellent and charming hosts and it was fun meeting their animals! The building containing the guest rooms and the breakfast lounge, which apparently was a ruined barn, has been beautifully renovated and is spotlessly clean. The room we stayed in was large, immaculate, and had a beautiful view over the countryside. Breakfast was good with a reasonable selection of fruit, bread, cheese, etc., though unfortunately no café au lait!

Although the B&B is in the middle of the countryside, the attractive nearby town of Villedieu-les-Poêles has a good number of restaurants and Kevin and Steve were very helpful in suggesting where to eat.

We used Normandy-inn as a base for visiting Saint-Malo and Mont-Saint-Michel, as well as Bayeux and the landing beaches. This worked very well, but it is such a beautiful and peaceful place to return to at the end of the day that we regretted not having had more time there and exploring places in the more immediate vicinity. We hope to return!

Just occasionally one comes across a place that's outstanding in every way and this is one of them. The welcome - Steven and Kevin couldn't be nicer. The room - exceptionally comfortable and spotlessly clean The bathroom - worthy of a 5* hotel. And the breakfast a real feast. Nothing was too much trouble and the next time we visit Mont St Michel, or any other part of Normandy near here we shall make this our base. Steven and Kevin also recommended a restaurant around a 5 minute car ride away called Les Bruyeres - I'll write a review on that in a moment - which iwas also exceptional and worth eating in if you're anywhere near Mont St Michel (since it is just off the motorway A84).

Room Tip: We were shown several rooms and asked to choose - all perfect.
