“A perfect gem . . . .”

My wife and I discovered two gems during our autumn break in the Languedoc, Chez Olive and the town of Marseillan.
We travelled relatively late in the year on Sept 29th staying for a week. I cannot vouch for Marseillan in the height of the summer season but at this time of year we had the pleasure of sharing the town only with the locals, browsing the markets, taking a coffee on the street corners and enjoying great value restaurants. The weather was a very pleasant mid to low 20’s, still perfect for a swim in the Mediterranean and relaxing on the near deserted beaches.
If you want to enjoy a taste of France at your own pace and without hustle and bustle Marseillan is the perfect place to visit and Chez Olive is the perfect place to stay. Situated right in the centre of town within a two minute walk of a boulangerie , restaurants and bar you cannot ask for a better location. The apartment itself is on the third floor of rustic old building full of character but is completely modernized with every amenity you could require. The small balcony affords a lovely view over the red tiled roofs of the town centre buildings and as you catch the last of the days sun a perfect spot for an evening aperitif. All rooms are spacious with long windows and high ceilings giving an airy impression.
We hired a car from the Airport which is probably the best way to reach Marseillan, and used the car to visit some of the old towns in the region, notably Pezanas and St Guilhem de Desert. If you are only staying for a short break consider leaving the car in the garage and hiring a bicycle. You can easily reach the beaches at Marseillan Plage or amble along the Canal du Midi and d’Etang. Whatever you do you should take time to relax and immerse yourself in a little bit of France, stick around Marseillan town, enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine and simply watch the world go by.
This was our first visit to Marseillan and we are determined to return. We look forward to staying in Chez Olive again and recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking for a taste of France.

“Excellent Apartment”

We stayed at Chez Olive for a very enoyable week. Marseillan is an historic town with all modern facilities - nice restaurants, good shopping for food & wine, and an interesting place to wander or sit in a portside or town cafe.
The apartment itself is first class - completely modernised with a well equipped kitchen, dining area, new bathroom, small private terrace which overlooks surrounding roof tops, garaging and all you need for a comfortable stay. The local manager speaks good english & is very helpful. With the aid of the owner (who is also most helpful) we obtained longer term car parking nearby which was needed prior to our stay .
We have rented a number of properties in Europe and would put this one top of the list in all respects. One thing to be aware of is that it is on the second floor and there are two flights of steps. The stair case is quite wide so no problem with luggage.
We would certainly stay here again.

“Great apartment, lovely town, perfect holiday!”

We have just returned from Marseillan and Chez Olive and would return in a heartbeat.

My husband and two daughters aged 9 and 11 had the most enjoyable two weeks, the standard of accommodation was amongst the best we have experienced over many family holidays to France. It is a really bright and comfortable apartment, the beds most importantly were really comfortable and the shower was terrific. Geraldine has thought of everything in ensuring a home from home holiday.

Breakfast on the balcony every morning was a lovely start to the day whether strolling down to the beautiful port, spending the day on the amazing stretch of beach between Marseillan and Sete or travelling a little further afield to visit any of the many beautiful towns and villages. A must if travelling with kids is Agd'Aventure to experience some of the best zip wires and climbing.

We had two weeks of unbroken sunshine which helped in our enjoyment but the apartment and its location in the centre of the town makes it the ideal place to stay.

“'Enjoyed Every Minute'”
Reviewed July 10, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

A big thank you to Geraldine for letting us stay in 'Chez Olive'. We had a fantastic time in Marseillan and we hope to return back at some stage in the future. Upon arrival Manuella was full off tips and ideas which proved very helpful. The apartment was very well presented and equipped with all you would need.

We found the village life very relaxing, friendly and helpful. You had all you would need for a holiday at the doorstep if not a short distance away.

Would recommend to friends and family to visit if in that area of France.

We look forward to our next trip hopefully sooner rather than later.

Martin, Claire & kids :)

“A perfect week!”
Reviewed June 20, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

My partner and I have just returned from a week in Marseillan - it was perfect in every way!
"Chez Olive" has been been wonderfully rennovated and every detail has been considered. It is perfectly located and we enjoyed popping to the bakery every morning (a 2 minute walk) for fresh croissants to eat on the balcony.
You can do as little or as much as you want here. We would highly recommend both La Taverne du Port and Chez Philippe - restaurants within a 10 minute walk of the apartment. They served fabulous food and we received excellent service.
We are already planning a return visit and would not hesitate to recommend this property!

“Gorgeous Village, great food”
Reviewed September 12, 2011 for a stay in August 2011

Myself and my husband spent a week at Chez Olive in August with our two children. The apartment is gorgeous. It is newly renovated and has a lovely bright airy feel. We felt it was really spacious for the four of us. There is a lovely balconey for sitting out on to enjoy the evening sun. Marsellian village is so quaint. There are so great bakeries on the door step of the apartment. The market on Tuesdays is a must just to wander around. There are so many restuarants to choose from in the village and at the port. Try the fish in all as it is so delicious.
