“meal with friends”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

The first visit was with friends who have a house locally I think the menu was 32 euro which was excellent well worth the money a good wine list fairly formal but good service the restaurant tucked away in the corner of the square is a gem atmosphere great the second visit more recently just the wife and I for lunch once again great food and wine the waiter explained every course another nostalgic return 2013

“Great tastes and excellently presented!”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

You must try this place if you should visit the area. It's in the Michelin guide and for a reason. I had the main course of Duck and this was brilliant, my partner had the trio set menu and he loved it. They were able to tell me which dishes had gluten and lactose as I have an allergy and adapted a dessert for me.
Very nice thank you.

“surprised”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

We had expected much with all the great reviews,
we found the staff not too friendly or helpful, and the amazing cheese plate would have been great if we had any idea what was what.. How do you tell ?
In fact although quite formal maybe overly and the food was great,we felt let down.
And after the amazing Chez Philipe slightly over charged

“quite expensive but worth it!”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

I recommend the 36 euro menu and in particular the "en trilogie" for a starter, but be warned, you need to be hungry! There are 2 amuse-bouches offered and a fishy starter after the first one, main courses are large and of course there is the wonderful cheese before the dessert! We had a good table by the window in the main room, but it was a bit too hot - no air con - yet when I went into the courtyard to go to (the only) toilet, that felt just as hot. Oh, and we were in the restaurant for 4 hours, from 8pm to midnight... However, being here is a great experience and you need time to digest. Recommended if you have the stamina!

“Great Night Out”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

We had just arrived in Marseillan and walked in mid afternoon to make a booking, to find the only tables available were in the courtyard. So book before you come. We are not big eaters so all 4 of us ordered just a maincourse, the Montgolfier - the Fish Pie (22Euros) and we were not disappointed. The waitresses only spoke French (two of us do so not a problem) and she recommended a great wine at 40Euros a bottles, so we ended up drinking 2 bottles, it was so good. The ambience is lovely and we really enjoyed being in the courtyard as there were lots of families inside, but unlike America and Australia, French children know how to behave in restaurants. A great night out but you may have a few difficulties if you don't speak French, though I suspect the gentleman who you rarely see probably does. Whilst we didn't eat from it, the cheese trolley looked amazing.
