“Love This Place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2014

Actually, I've eaten at their other location in Pacific Mall on Pine St a couple of times (and would again a few days after this visit to the Post Alley location). I'm worried about cholesterol and saturated fats (a heart attack will teach you to worry), so I forego the cream-based chowders for the red Manhattan version. Many places skimp on the clams, but this soup is filled with them and plenty of veggies, too. I was going to get the sourdough bowl, but was advised that it wouldn't fare as well as with a cream based chowder. I settled for a combo with an up-sized 12 oz bowl plus a half Oregon Bay Shrimp Roll, and was thoroughly satisfied.

Where to eat is another problem...the lunchtime crowd lines up to order (took about 10 minutes at around 12:30 pm on a Sunday), and there are very few tables inside, and an equally small number just outside. Our group of 4 ended up going into the market to find an empty table. If we had thought to order everything to go, we could have wandered across the street to the park area overlooking the sound. As a note, the Pine St location has easier seating.

“no doubt, the chowder is great...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2014

tripadvisor rarely let's me down, and while in town for a conference, decided to check out a very highly rated spot for lunch. I went with the clam chowder/salmon sandwich combo. my advice is ditch the sandwich and go all in with the chowder. it's not that the sandwich is bad, its just that the chowder is superb. if you are at pike's this is a great place for a quick casual lunch

“Good Chowder that is worth the wait!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2014

When telling people about my trip to Pike Place Market several of them told me I needed to eat lunch at Pike Place Chowder. I followed their advice and was not disappointed. The chowder was very good and the rotating "Market" special was an interesting, but highly delicious mix. My wife really enjoyed her portion as well. Like most market locales it can be very busy and you should probably expect to wait in a line that moves at varying paces. That being said, if you don't mind a little bit of a wait, you will be served a very fine variety of chowders!

“Great clam chowder”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2014

The best New England clam chowder I have ever had! The crab roll was Ok, but not spectacular. Be prepared to wait in line if you are there at lunch time.

“Incredible chowder!”

Incredible chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. Had the market special. First time to try Ginger Root Beer. It wasn't my favorite, but the kids liked the drink.
