When we first found the Chelsea Station Inn's webpage, it looked too good to be true. Lots of space, great location, and amazing looking breakfasts. We were looking for a place to stay when we visited Seattle with our almost-teenage daughter, and thought this could be perfect. We weren't wrong! The inn doesn't cater to families, necessarily (in fact, children are only allowed in the 1st floor rooms), but the fact that our suite gave us 900 square feet of space was awesome, as was having a half bath in addition to the full bath. It meant that we weren't constantly on top of each other, and had room to spread out and enjoy some privacy.

The room itself was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The bed was AWESOME - firm mattress, deliciously soft bedding - it was a joy to climb into each night. Erin didn't have a problem with the sleeper sofa in the living room, and loved having the TV to herself at night. (What kid wouldn't?) Having access to the drinks, snacks, and wine downstairs was wonderful, and the breakfasts were just incredible. It was wonderful to be able to select what size portion we wanted, and they were more than happy to make something separate for picky eaters.

We happened to see one of the innkeepers when we arrived, but with the exception of when our breakfast was delivered each day, it was like we had the place to ourselves. The location is wonderful - walking distance to the Woodland Park Zoo and Rose Garden, and just a short drive to downtown Seattle. Parking was mostly on the street, with two spaces available in the driveway as well.

This definitely isn't your "typical" B&B (if there is such a thing). There's no central meeting space or a main dining room where guests can eat together and meet each other. But it was, without a doubt, one of the most enjoyable hotel/inn experiences we've ever had, and I would definitely stay there again if I'm in the area!

The location of the Chelsea Station Inn is both central and quiet, a rare combination. We had the entire B&B for family members. We could visit each other whenever we wished or we could retreat behind closed doors for R&R. The staff was so thoughtful and kind, yet we never saw them if we didn't need them. The suites were just spectacular--so comfortable and roomy. The breakfasts were simply delicious--being able to choose our portion sizes was a great idea! Truly, this felt like a home away from home, but with none of the responsibilities. The youngest member of the group did not want to leave. We all understood!

When we entered our suite we both gasped, as it was so beautifully done. Top notch everything EXCEPT the sofa bed which was almost impossible to sleep on as it slanted down seriously. We both tried to get it evened out w/out success. The breakfasts were lovely and we liked that we could choose the size, as we both hate it when we leave half the food. The treats were marvelous and the wine a delight. Everything has been done to make this a stellar place except the essential ingredient for us -- we had no contact with others because there was no common room. One of the reasons we like to stay in B&Bs is to meet others and have pleasant conversations over breakfast. This is especially true on road trips when each other's company needs a reprieve. If you are a tourist who wants to explore Seattle the B&B is only good for the zoo and rose gardens. It's a long bus ride to downtown and restaurants are really too far to walk to. Parking was no problem, though if you are on a road trip you will probably want to unload everything not in a concealed trunk as the parking is mostly on the street.

We were lucky that the owner was on the premises collecting mail when we arrived so we were able to ask him some questions. But if we had arrived at another time, there would not have been anyone to greet us. We both missed the personal touch of a true B&B with a resident host.

Room Tip: all 4 suites are the same

I did meet these two very nice women when they arrived at the Inn because I was picking up mail (after sweeping, watering the flowers, adjusting and cleaning the hot tub) ... the typical check list of items that an owner might do before and during the hours when guests arrive. And we met and discussed where the guest who had booked the room was from ... Sonoma, and the fact that she had lived her entire adult life overseas... And that now back in the states she was eager to view the West Coast and visit places she had not had the opportunity to see. She professed an interest in wine and I opened our modest wine cellar and discussed what the two of them might like. I brought out a rose' from Aix en Provence and a Bordeaux style red from a small winery in Walla Walla. They seemed to think "both" would be best and so I gave both bottles to them for later enjoyment and explained how they might walk to a nearby restaurant although they had a car. Our Inn allows guest to enter with a code, but we have an Inn Keeper "on" from 7:00 AM until late afternoon every day, I often stop by to care for a few details, Marina is there nearly every day as a second manager and we have a live-in Inn Keeper who resides at the Inn and is available during the evening and overnight period. So, we are around, just not obtrusive. And we are on the scene quickly to help with something like a problem folding out the sleeper bed in the living room, if anyone had called or notified the Inn Keeper. On the Welcome information it asks a guest to call us with any need. Please see "Amazing Service" just below where a guest brought friends over and after having a few beers from the complimentary refrigerator asked for a "refill" and we brought an assortment of beer selections to their room soon after. We like to help our guests with any request, special or otherwise, it allows us to show our customer service ... and then we like to allow privacy when we are not needed.

We once served breakfast primarily in our common area that we call the Inn Keeper's Quarters. We have a table that serves eight and that worked well for the first few years, but once we gave guests the opportunity to be served in their robes at their private dining table en suite ... our guest elected to use this service so universally that any request to eat in the Inn Keeper's Quarters became very rare. Approximately 95% of our guests elected to be served to their suite, and so it is.

The information about being served breakfast in the suite is featured on our web site prominently, it is discussed on our confirmation email, and again in other communications. So, for this to be a surprise that would lead to a guest's diminished enjoyment of their stay seems to indicate that none of this information was reviewed.

And finally those that know Seattle understand and the neighborhoods that we nestle up to, Fremont, Ballard, Green Lake, Woodland Park, Wallingford and Phinney Ridge are some of the "go to places" in Seattle. So, we feel very lucky to have the neighborhood connection ... in truth it keeps us full, week-in and week-out.

Thank you,

The ownership of Chelsea Station Inn

Excellent stay June 11 and 12th, 2013. The breakfast brought to the room was excellent and very tasty . Refrigerator downstairs is brimming with free drinks and snacks. Mattress firm and linens crisp and clean. Shower with hand held shower head and rain forest shower head spectacular. Right at Woodland park Zoo. Located in a beautiful neighborhood with well kept homes and lawns. Flowers galore.

Room Tip: 4 rooms available. We had the 1st floor room. Not much traffic sounds at all.

We were in Seattle for about 20 hours, and foolishly got a 6:40am flight so we did not get to enjoy the "breakfast" portion of this BnB.

The suite was beautiful, clean, and cozy. We arrived a little early before 3pm, so we ran into a housekeeper, who said we could leave our things there before she got the place ready. When we came back several hours later after meeting friends, we found everything impeccable, and she had left cookies on the table. The guest fridge/pantry were well-stocked. We invited a friend over to hang out, and the guys finished the 3 or 4 beers from the guest fridge.

Emboldened by the note that said we could call the innkeeper with "any need," we did, around 8pm, which was sort of late. The innkeeper said that the person in charge might still be there, and she would call them to restock. 10 minutes later the innkeeper called back, and said the person was "ON A BEER RUN" for us. Another 15 minutes later, a lady actually SHOWED UP at our door with 8 beers (4 varieties) on a platter. I have never seen this kind of service!

Just one tiny problem - no guest laundry services.

The little things they provided were also very demonstrative of excellent service. There were Q-tips in the bathroom. At least 7 different kinds of tea. Coffee ready in the pot. Bathrobes hanging in the closet. Portion choices for breakfast (which, we are kicking ourselves for not getting to enjoy). Netflix on the TV. Just amazing attention to detail! Can't wait to get back to this place!

Can't say enough about this place. We were in Seattle in March when it was rainy and overcast. Our suite (apartment?) there made whatever gloom there was outside disappear altogether. As everyone else has noted, the suites are really small apartments, the beds are very comfortable, the showers are invigorating, and the breakfasts are outstanding. And the parking is free. Chelsea Station deserves to be ranked #1 in Seattle; wouldn't it be great If every city had a Chelsea Station?!

We book this B&B because it was very high on the list at Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. We were a bit surprised however since this was not your typical b&b. Instead of individual bedrooms and a central living room and dinning room for breakfast, each unit was a mini apartment with a living room, dinning room, bedroom with bath and a small kitchen. The units are well appointed. Breakfast is served individually to each unit and was delicious. Lori, the gal who did everything there was great and very helpful. You cannot go wrong picking this Great Little Inn.
