Innovative and hearty with great fresh ingredients. Our kale salad was terrific and black cod was fresh and perfectly prepared. But the mushroom egg white soup was barely warm, and the sweet potato mesh beneath the cod was cold. The place felt a bit cold, lacking energy, on a Sunday night with a total of 12 diners. It would be a terrific place if they perfect on execution and fill the place up.

If you are into cracked emmer, elderberry, whey, fermented chili, banyuls vinegar, goat's tomme, trailing blackberries, dried fat back, and/or empeltre olives this place is for you! We went on the recommendation of a friend, who is a local. While I will try anything, I found each of our five small plates a confusing mess of flavors. Out of the five of us, one raved while the rest munched our beets in some lavender colored sauce--I missed the waitress's description. Wish I'd missed the restaurant.

We were able to walk in early on a Friday night & score seats at the window counter. Not a great view, but we were just happy to be seated. The menu is very deceptive - lots of small plate choices, but they sound so elementary. I was not excited about what we selected, but whatever. Then, when these gorgeous plates started to arrive, the reason for all the glowing reviews was apparent. These are the best, freshest ingredients imaginable, put together in ways that sound simple, but are amazingly complex and unexpected. Service is great and professional, despite the casual vibe. Can hardly wait to come back & sample other seasonal offerings.

My husband and I visited Sitka & Spruce on a whim. We enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food. We had the chilled tomato soup, salad and also the cod. All 3 dishes had complex and delightful flavors. We each had a glass of fabulous Rose, and although we passed on dessert we enjoyed the yummy complimentary caramels that we received with our check.

Small and delightful cafe in the rear of a building with 3 or 4 other businesses in front of it -- great little book and souvenir shop, high end butcher and tea shops. Food was local, imaginative, well presented, and delicious. Highly recommend.
