“Squirrel food”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Unfortunately all the vegetarian dishes were very au naturel and by that I mean they had no seasonings at all. If you are inclined to order some protein dish make sure you're not on a budget. Although this place seems to specialize in vegetarian fare they are very proud of their meat offerings if their price is any indication. Nice wines though and good service.

“The Criterion of Excellence”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

First, you have to stand for a moment near the open prep area and kitchen. Notice the ingredients laid our before you. See how they have been carefully selected, lovingly prepared, and unique in their combinations. Then watch the kitchen staff sauce, fire, blend, chop and plate. You are seeing a rare kind of restauranting here. Sitka and Spruce is all about details, thoughtfulness, craft and articulation. This is the criterion of excellence.

Seattle is fortunate that chef Matt Dillon chooses to work his magic here.

“Three small plates”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

Great meal at S&S. Shared three small plates, the amazing bread and a bottle of wine between two of us. The open kitchen was a pleasant welcome to the restaurant. We sat in the far corner and had attentive but not invasive service during the two plus hours we dined.

“Great little spot! Fresh food!”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

My boyfriend and I went there for lunch on a Saturday and we were both very satisfied with the place. First of all the location is amazing, the fact that the restaurant is located inside a little indoors market adds a lot of character to the place.
The waitress was really nice even though she seemed very busy.
I had the chickpeas puree and carrots with a side of bread and butter and my boyfriend had an egg benedict on a French toast with beans. Both our dishes were very fresh and tasty. You can tell they use fresh and premium ingredients.
The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food.
Can’t wait to try this place for diner!
