“Most amazing chocolat chaud”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

I just met a friend here and ordered the chocolat chaud on her recommendation. It was amazing and gave me a great chocolate fix. Thick, rich, hot chocolate with a side of whipped cream to be spooned in. Heaven in a cup.

“Noisy--music is too loud for conversations”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2013

The food is good but what a din. They play their music too loud and a meal will cost you your ear drums! Not my choice for relaxing dining.

“Amazing French Bistro in Seattle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2013

While searching for Stumptown in Seattle we ran into this gem of a French Bistro on Capitol Hill in Seattle. Being French myself I can attest to the authenticity of their food. Probably the best frites we ever had in America. The combo of homemade fries and dip was remarkable. I had the croque monsieur and my husband had a great tomato soup. I can't decide if the "frites" or the grapefruit mimosa was my favourite thing on the menu. We couldn't possible leave without sharing a piece of the tarte bordelaise aux fruits à noyau (peach in this instance) et sa crème anglaise. One of our best foody experience in decades. Not to be missed on your next trip to Seattle. Can't wait to return and try something different on the menu.

“Great food in a relaxed and comforting space”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

I am a longtime fan of sister restaurant Le Pichet, and it has taken me too long to get to Café Presse, but a few days ago I was in the neighborhood and stopped in.

Café Presse offers similar French Bistro fare to Le Pichet (including the famed cooked-to-order whole roasted chicken), but the menu seems just a bit less extensive, and slightly less expensive than at Pichet. The multi-level space has a lot more square feet and now boasts a retail wine operation (which is great, because the folks who own these restaurants do a great job of picking wines that pair well with food).

After starting with a delicious appetizer of marinated olives, I ordered the steak frites. The steak was perfectly cooked and sliced at the correct angle to achieve maximum tenderness. The "frites" were addictive and provided in a generous portion with two sauces for dipping. Perhaps the highlight was the sauté of peppers, summer squash, tomato, olives and oregano, which made a delicious bed for the beef. This was a beautiful meal featuring grass fed beef for just $18. It was a warm day, and I enjoyed a Caipirinha cocktail which was perfectly prepared and also a bargain at $8.50.

This is the sort of place where you can get a quick bite, or linger and enjoy many small plates. There's more parking in this neighborhood than you'll find in many other sections of Capitol Hill. Café Presse scores in every way...highly recommend!

“Breakfast of champions”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

Steak tartare for breakfast now that's my kind of place! Add a great tomato soup and super fries and we were good to go. The person with the long blond hair in the kitchen should wear a hairnet however. One less blond hair in my fries would have been preferred but still enjoyed the experience !
