This place is great. They have a huge covered sandbox out front for summertime. And the food is amazing. I had a Desi and a Coke. I would highly recommend it. Check this place out while in Seattle. A little bit away from Downyown, but trust me, it's worth it.

Thank Austin W

I visited Bongos on a sunny Fall day & it was very enjoyable. The patio feels like it actually is on an island with the tropical murals, banana trees, calypso music & the tables set in an actual sandbox! The food was delicious & spicy with generous portions. The service was quick and friendly. A nice little lunch get-away on busy Aurora Ave.

We love the Caribbean and Latino food. That said, we were walking around the pond at Greenlake Park. when we spotted the big sign painted on a concrete wall. With the assurance from our son that he heard it was a good place and with ravenous appetites we has worked up on our walk we ventured forth.

You have smile at the cleverness of the setting. A transformed gas station. Round tables with umbrellas set in beach sand. Palm trees, musicians playing bongo drums and other tropical scenes painted mural style on the walls around the "beach" area. The cement floor leading from the sand to the indoor seating area is painted blue to look like the ocean. Latino music playing in the background. I was happy as soon as I walked in.

We ordered food inside the building. jerk chicken, citrus baised pork, ropa vieja platters. We sat outside on the 'beach.' The food was brought out in no time, fresh and hot. The platters were all so good that we couldn't help from eating from each other's plates trying to decide which was the best. It was a three way tie. The food was so satisfying we skipped dinner.

Note for parents with small children. If you want to have lunch without being disturbed, this is the place. You can set your little one down in the sand (they even have some sand toys) and they will be happily occupied.
