“Excellent food”
Reviewed May 29, 2014

Thoroughly enjoyed our food. Our Server, Brian, was excellent and very attentive. I order the spicy shrimp tacos but asked for and received soft tortillas instead of hard shell. They were exquisite. My husband ordered the applewood smoked brisket and proclaimed them phenomenal. Excellent food. Would absolutely go back. Thanks for a great foodie experience.

“New Turns on Old Standards - You Have to Try This!”
Reviewed May 27, 2014

We don't go out to Mexican much, because we cook it frequently (and well) at home. A gift certificate lured us to Cactus recently, and Alki Point is a lovely community for a brisk stroll in the sun (which *does* shine from time to time here in Seattle). OMG! What we were missing! The flavors and approach were inspirational. I had their brisket enchilada "Santa Fe style", meaning multiple layers of tortilla and goodies, rather than rolled. And what goodies! Fabulous sauces, wonderfully seasoned and tender brisket - what a treat. We topped off our meal with the Cactus version of a Dulce de leche - their "Tin Roof Sundae". If you are reading this in San Francisco, it will be worth to drive to come up here for the salted caramel ice cream, spicy peanut sauce, cumin roasted walnuts, chocolate sauce, whipped cream. I'm working on creating another "occasion" that will require a special dessert to top it off . . . I can't wait for a second chance at this dessert.

“Great Setting & Fresh Food w/ Contemporary Flair”
Reviewed May 14, 2014

At the very end of the strip along Alki Beach you'll find a lively atmosphere and fresh, contemporary interpretation of Mexican food. Although they sound a bit unconventional, for the more adventurous eaters we love the butternut enchiladas and so have all the guests we've taken to Cactus who have tried them. The slight sweetness of the butternut balances the spicy, smoky flavor of the mole sauce. Carmelized onions and goat cheese round out the flavors. In the summer, watermelon salad cubes of watermelon, slivers of jicima, bits of watercress, and lime juice is a very refreshing way to end a day at the beach. The menu has lots of variety, though, so don't worry if those don't sound your type of dish.

The service is good, but you may have to wait a while for a table, especially during the summer. It's a festive atmosphere (also read as busy, often loud), so may not be ideal for a quiet date night. But, it's a very fun place to bring friends or to come if you don't mind the friendly West Seattle crowd. There are a few views, but street between the restaurant and the beach is quite busy, so you have to overlook the traffic as well. Overall, we don't mind this, but just don't expect a "waterfront" dining experience. Come for the fun atmosphere, good service, and fantastic food!

“Must Go Back!!”
Reviewed March 25, 2014

Food! Drinks! Service! Decor!
This is a must!! It's worth the wait, and if its a nice day, you can just take a walk on the beach why waiting. Our server was fabulous and suggested drinks not on the menu that ended up being wonderful. The food had a lot of variety, and everyone at the table was more than pleased with what they got. It was my birthday, and I was given a delicious free dessert!
