“Despite my expectations, a bit disappointing”

I was looking forward to visiting the Caffe d'Arte headquarters bistro since their espresso is among my top two or three nationwide - even worldwide. Visiting Seattle, where I once lived, I called ahead and asked what espresso places in various Seattle neighborhoods might serve Caffe d'Arte, and long story short, they couldn't tell me.

So I went to their HQ - located in a slightly shabby part of downtown Seattle. Not really attractive from the outside, and a visually cold interior - quite a surprise. (I'm not an interior designer, but I could transform the place easily in a month if it were my responsibility and my espresso company.)

But never mind, I was there for the coffee, so I got a dry cappuccino. And despite my love for Caffe d'Arte coffee, what I got was better than average, but not by much. Good flavor, but no complexity, little depth. Why do they make Caffe d'Arte better at Anna Bananas in Portland than they do at the Caffe d/Arte flagships store in Seattle?

So all in all, it was a disappointment.

We went in search of a traditional Seattle coffeeshop, and based on several reviews on the internet, apparently this was THE place. We had several iced coffees and iced mochas here, actually - we went 3 times in 24 hours! Would highly recommend to serious coffee drinkers.

We were looking for a cute coffee shop, which are easy to find in bustling downtown Seattle!

The lineup here went slowly, which is understandable when you see the artistic masterpieces atop each customer's latte. The customers with 'for here' mugs looked like they each got a square of chocolate (See's?) with their cappuccinos, which was unique.

My cappuccino had a heart on it, and was made to perfection!

We became regulars at Caffe D'Arte for a week and a half while staying at the Moore Hotel in Seattle on vacation. Their coffees are fantastic (says my boyfriend), and I fell in love with their awesome decaffeinated chai tea (which is sold on Post Alley down the street).

The service is amazingly friendly - after a couple of days, they remembered our order and always engaged in small talk while making our beverages. On the last day of our trip, they actually gave us our drinks at no cost.

It also happened to be the least expensive of any coffee vendor we crossed paths with in the Seattle area. Almost nothing on their menu (drink-wise) exceeds $2.00, which surely can not be said for Starbucks/Tully's/Seattle's Best.

We actually considered having our photo taken with our barista before we left, but let's face it...that's just creepy. Anyways, Caffe D'Arte - where it's at for awesome coffee and teas in the Seattle area. It's just up the street from Pike Place Market on the corner of 2nd and Stewart (?).
