“Fado = Faux”
Reviewed December 22, 2008

This chain of faux "Irish" restaurants offers the same experience one can find at Denny's. Only with Guiness and high prices.

“How DARE you say Applebee's”
Reviewed September 16, 2007

The location of Fado off of First Street in Seattle, intersects the financial district with Pioneer Square. The bar it replaced in name was literally sent to Seattle in pieces from Dublin. That's pretty authentic, if you ask me.
The food is wonderful, and the fish and chips is my all-time favourite. I highly recommend the appetizer involving boxty bread and melted cheese. AMAZING stuff. It's a wonderful place to stop and warm up a bit on a damp day, and it's also a terrific end to a St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl. Not full of college students who think Guinness is only the Irish export. I like that. And there are never any American sports on their ONE bar television, and I REALLY like that. If you just want to go have a beer and enjoy the atmosphere, go to Fado.

“Plastic and disappointing”
Reviewed April 14, 2007

Fado is great if you're into replicated, overly-decorated Applebees-type pubs. I was horribly disappointed with the faries and too-cute "Irish" scenes painted on the walls and even more disappointed with the food. If they can put Guinness in it, they will. Wow, really Irish (if you can taste the sickly sarcasm, just replace that taste with Guinness and you've eated at Fado's).

For my time and money, I'd rather go up to Post Alley to Kell's or under the footbridge from Colman Ferry Dock to the little Irish pub there. Want to be a tourist who doesn't wander beyond the borders, go ahead to Fado. Want to be somewhere real? Don't bother.

“Great For Cold Days”
Reviewed October 23, 2006

Decorated in dark woods and possesing an intimate feel, Fado is the perfect place to stop in after walking the cold streets of Seattle. I personally recommend a Bailey's and coffee with a Guiness Brownie. Comfort food at its best. If you're interested in the night life, Fado has a decent late-night scene with good drinks and music. And, if you feel up to it, they have a Bloody Mary Sunday every week for a little hair of the dog. Cheers!
