It's a nice monorail, roomy and reasonably quiet. It's only a few dollars for a ride, but there are only 2 stops. It helped us get a little closer to where we needed to go after we saw the Space Needle, so it is useful. I was hoping for a longer ride, but it's functional and only takes a few minutes. One of those things you can say you did at least once in your life.
My wife & I stayed in a 5th Avenue apartment practically beneath the Seattle Center Monorail tracks, so I felt obligated to ride it once during our stay. We boarded @ Westlake Center Station and exited at Seattle Center Station. That's all you get, with everything in between pretty much a blur as you're whisked from one end of the line to the other. But for the friendly ticket agents & the fare discounts for children/seniors/disabled/military & the rapid transport from the Downtown Seattle business district to the arts & entertainment of Seattle Center, it's a very pleasant ride that's worth the price.
This was awesome. Short ride of less than 5 minutes, but it's $2.50 so way cheaper than cab or uber. Drop off/pickup right by the space needle or in downtown. Plus it's fun gliding over all the traffic and business.
This is still a fun way to get to the Space Needle. Try to get the very first seat for the best view. Not too expensive and runs frequently.
A quick trip back to the the 1962 Worlds Fair and the first Monorail system. Kind of brings back memories of Elvis! The trip itself is pretty short and the view is often limited by many buildings that I'm sure were not standing when the monorail first opened. However, it is more about the experience. It is a must do while you are enjoying a day at Seattle Center.
They’ve kept this world’s fair relic up and running, in great condition. While it’s not a bargain for the distance travelled, it’s a unique view of the city and a great connection from pike place market/downtown area to the Seattle Center dropping you right below the space needle. At time of posting it is $5 round trip.
