The waterfront a great place to walk and get your daily exercise. There are shops and restaurants spread through out the waterfront, there is also an aquarium and a ferris wheel ride. You can take a boat ride across the sound to get some pictures of Seattle.

Seattle will surprise you by how hilly the downtown area is and also how much fun you will have on the waterfront. I spent most of the day around the Pike Place area because the market will suck you in, but the great views from the Puget Sound, will make you want to hang around for dinner -- if only the Sea Merchant were still open :)

Great place to shop, dine and take in the views. The aquarium is nice, you can take ferry rides or tour boats, check out the Pike Place market. We always hit the waterfront on our trips to Seattle.

This is an example of hearing so much about a place and then when you see it for yourself, you wonder why all the fuss. Pikes Place was okay.....the fish market was uneventful (no flying or throwing of fish the day I was there), the first Starbucks was, um, a Starbucks. If there was a review button "Meh," that is what I would rate the Waterfront. Seattle in general was just overpriced with a LOT of homeless people in the downtown area. Very disappointing in my book. For the trip cost, wouldn't go back.

The waterfront is beautiful. Experience the ferry from there, ride on the Great Wheel, enjoy tasty seafood, and pick up a souvenir all at the Waterfront. Go in the day and then stay through until evening, so that you can enjoy the night time skyline, too. Make use of the free shuttle to and from King's/Pioneer/Waterfront/Seattle Center while there (tips accepted). Recommended.

The waterfront is part of the charm and soul of Seattle. The history starts here though what exists now has seen several centuries of modification and growth but it still has the historical roots. Long gone is the Thomas Edison direct current original Seattle power plant which was located below the Pike Street Market as well as the original 'skid row', Japantown and hopefully soon the traffic mess associated with the current new road construction. However the Sound, the ferries, the walkways, the historic shops and the standby great restaurants are all there and hopefully will always be.

A great place to spend an afternoon strolling around, taking in the beautiful scenery and getting some of that fresh air. Of course it helps if the weather's nice, but I don't mind a bit of a chill, and in fact I find it even more beautiful with all the fall colors everywhere you look.

My husband and I are in town visiting our daughter and her family for a few days, they just moved here so it's our first time in town, but we'll probably head back to this gorgeous area.
