While sitting in mid-ship seats, a friend and I decided to upgrade to "comfort class" on the second deck. As the vessel pulled away, we were delighted with the views on each side and forward. The waters became choppy and gradually to 10 foot swells. It was a bit scary. The captain decided to move toward calmer waters which delayed the trip by 1.5 hours. We did not care. That was just fine. The staff was very friendly and we also enjoyed the complimentary (non-alchoholic) beverages. There were snacks available also. (apples, bannana's etc) The return trip was a bit more calm and we were not delayed at all. I would take this ferry again, over a seaplane any day.

Victoria Clipper's passenger-only catamaran is a great way to travel from Victoria to Seattle. The only downside was the need to get to the terminal a couple hours before sailing to check in and get in line for a reasonable seat. Next time, I'll do Comfort Class and sit outdoors in the sun until it's time to sail. I really disliked having to spend my last afternoon on one of the only sunny days of my trip to Victoria sitting on a folding chair in the terminal. But it is important to get there early to check in as it is an international trip. Don't forget your passport or Nexus card! I booked a round trip that included one way on a seaplane with Kenmore Air which was a great combo. Back on the Clipper, there is an open deck that allows you to step outdoors during your trip. Food and drinks are available on the ship including alcoholic beverages. Just FYI - your larger carry-ons have to be put on a rack on the main level of the ship. If you are worried about your bag being out of sight, put a lock on it. The water in the Strait of Juan de Fuca was like glass so it was an incredibly smooth journey. We even saw a whale along with a beautiful sunset and the sparkling skyline of Seattle as we came into port. Lovely trip!

Highly recommend booking the upgraded seating for this 3 hr journey. It was well worth the extra dollars. You do need to climb one flight of steps to the top deck. You'll have very comfortable leather seats with a table to put your drinks & munchies. Coffee/tea/sodas/juice and a very nice assortment of snacks like trail mix, nuts, fruit, chips, etc are free when on this upper deck. There is also a menu of cold sandwiches, breakfast rolls etc available that are served for a charge. Restrooms also on this deck.
No cash transactions only credit cards. Staff was very friendly and if you're taking the city tour & going to Butchart Gardens the bus is right at the pier waiting for you.

The trip on the Victoria Clipper was fast and comfortable. The staff at the terminals and the staff on the boat really have the care of the passengers perfected. They were all efficient, friendly and helpful. Clearing customs and immigration at both ends was fast and uncomplicated.

We boarded the Clipper Ferry in Seattle for a trip to Victoria. What a great experience! We did go the extra for Comfort Class and it was worth it. Ferry itself is a catamaran that travels at 40 knots...so it is fast, quiet and very comfortable. Looking forward to our next trip!

We booked a weekend package with Clipper Vacations and were thrilled with the result. Nice ferry ride (bring your own snacks to save $), good transportation upon arrival, nice hotel (Huntingdon Manor, literally across the street from the ferry terminal), and friendly staff. Hard to ask for more.

We wanted to experience both forms of transportation on a trip to Victoria for two days....Kenmore Seaplane and Victoria Clipper. It was a great trip specifically on the Clipper ... easy to board in Victoria, easy customs to traverse through, plenty of seating locations, comfortable seats with tables or without tables, easy carry on luggage storage and table wait service for food and beverages was big plus! It was a great way to see a nice sunset heading back to Seattle. Disembarking in Seattle was easy as well. This was a great mode of transportation and we are pleased with trip and travel arrangements managed through Clipper Vacations.

An excellent day trip! The pre-boarding for families with small children really made our day. The vessel is clean and comfy. I recommend seats in the first level (of three) at the front.
The highlight of the trip was an unplanned up-close whale encounter. Even without that the trip would have still been very worth it. Do bring a good pair of binoculars (or rent them on-board) as the ship is not allowed to get to close to the whales.

The Victoria Clipper is a convenient way to travel between the two cities. We stayed in Victoria for four days after the first leg. The Seattle to Victoria leg leaves at 8 am. The Victoria to Seattle leg leaves at 5 pm. The one way trip takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes. You need your passport. Larger luggage must be checked. There is a fee per item. Passengers with checked luggage leave the boat last. Going through immigration took about 30 minutes on each end.
