When you walk on, it is very reasonable. A nice day trip to another port. Spend the day shopping or just go for lunch and return. They are usually on time and great views and a pleasant ride.

We love the Washington State Ferry - especially the Bremerton run. Puget Sound never disappoints regardless of the weather. And if you are on foot - you only pay one way (and it is cheap). A great way to see Seattle from the water. An extra added bonus is to drop in to Anthony's Home Port next to Bremerton Port for a snack/drink/dinner -- glorious!

The reason this ride is the best is first of all - it is a nice long ride on usually quiet and somewhat sheltered sea. The ferry weaves in and out among islands and it is quiet and peaceful. Sure, the ferry to Bremerton offers a beautiful view of Seattle, but it is over in a few minutes - but I do recommend that also for visitors. If you plan to get off the ferry for a short visit without a car, I recommend Friday Harbor - nice little town right off the ferry. But Orcas is great for car or bicycling.

Saw a pod right off the side of the Ferry! (San Juan Island) Any visit to Seattle area is not complete without a ferry ride.

A trip on a Washington State ferry is one of our favorite things to do in Seattle. Whether we are traveling for pleasure, business, or just for the experience of taking the ferry….the views are wonderful, there is food if you're hungry, and it feels darn good to get away, or at least feel like it. Travel to Bainbridge Island from Seattle for an easy day trip, or branch out and head to other destinations. It can be a little pricey, depending on whether you walk on or drive on, but the views and the experience are worth it!
