“Tasty Ivar's Clam Chowder on the WA St Ferries!”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Take a ferry ride (several to choose from) across the puget sound bay and enjoy a bowl of Ivar's Award Winning Puget Sound Clam Chowder! Stand outside on the bow of the ferry boat and take in all the wonderful sights of the PNW.

“Cheap way to sightsee”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

The ferries, especially to Bainbridge island offer wonderful views for a pittance. Always easy to walk on as opposed to bringing a car and then get off, check out the place and catch the next ferry back.

“Favorite Transportation EVER!”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We take the ferries as part of Seattle but if you are a visitor, don't go home without a ferry ride somewhere. This is a great way to appreciate this beautiful place we live. The ferries are clean, uncrowded and peaceful. Our favorite way to ride a ferry is to walk on - no line hassle. Many communities can be accessed by just walking on a ferry, getting off for site seeing and then hopping back on. I will admit we avoid driving on ferries weekends and holidays - long waits. But we LOVE the ferry system.

“Beautiful views”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

We took a two hour ferry ride from Anacortes to the San Juan Islands. This ride included two stops before we got off at Friday Harbor. The roundtrip fee for 4 adults was $77 bucks which I thought was a little steep, and they do not offer a military discount. The ride itself was very enjoyable, and we got to see parts of Washington that we would not have been able to see otherwise. The ferry was clean, and you can buy drinks, snacks, and newspapers out of vending machines. There is a variety of pamphlets onboard of many of the Washington and Vancouver attractions which are very helpful in planning your visit. It is fun to go out on the deck and feel the wind blowing on your face as you get in some extra sight seeing. We met sweet people including one of the ferry workers who do like to strike up a conversation. Very enjoyable ride.

“A slice of maritime history.”
Reviewed March 11, 2013

These are old boats. OLD. They chug along slowly. Usually. But they are pretty economical, and the views are nice on a sunny day. Take your own food, as it is either unavailable, or horrible. They don't mind.

Remember if you plan to drive-on on one of the busy routes on a Friday or Sunday night you will be waiting. And waiting. There was a band on Whidbey Island named Two Boat Wait. That can be a long time. Otherwise they are fun. Kids love them.
