Beautiful unique architecture. We went from top to bottom. Made us want to read every book in it. People forget how useful a city library can be and this one is really a treasure of knowledge using all modern technology. Don't miss it.

“Escalators and wide open spaces”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2013

This place is an architectural wonder. Located right downtown, it's the best designed public library I've ever used. Lots of cozy chairs to sit and read. Nice place to escape Seattle when it's raining. And you can go from floor to floor on escalators as if you're shopping in a mall. Check it out.

“Mind-bending architecture”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

This is one of these buildings that does just as much inside as outside. It delivers spaces (thankfully nearly every inch is accessible to the public) that astonish and confound, the engineering disguised as spaces defy gravity and mystifyingly use space.

The library has ample space for visitors to sit down and read, or use a computer, I settled for a couple of idyllic hours on the third floor in a quietly thronging public space.

“Is this a library or an architectural wonder?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 29, 2013

It is both!!! The library has a small sandwich kiosk on the main floor to the left as you enter the building. It has tables and chairs so you can eat and take in the amazing architecture of this magnificant building. Make sure you go to the various levels to experience the different views and sensations. Fun and Free!!

“Every major city should have a library like this!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2013

Uniquely beautiful on the outside and amazingly wonderful on the inside! Whether you are looking to read a book, check your email or just kill some time, the Seattle Public Library is worth a visit! By showing your ID to a librarian on the 5th floor, out-of-town visitors can gain access to the public computers for a set period of time. On the first and third Mondays of each month, there is a free “Story Time for Grownups” at noon in the auditorium (and you may bring your lunch). Oh, and there is a killer gift shop run by the Friends of the Library with a collection of items for all ages. Yes, I’m a library lover, and I’ve added the Seattle PL to my list of favorites!
