“Here comes Santa Clause...”
Review of Westlake Center

Westlake Center

Every year Santa comes to West lake Center and the tree lighting ceremony begins. They also have a huge star on the top of Macy's and they even set off fireworks. It was a spectacular event and one I plan on making a tradition. They also had a carousel which even the big kids loved. Mostly the atmosphere is one that is hard to put into words so maybe you should just check it out for yourself. Happy Holidays all!

We were visiting Seattle from Canada and decided to go for lunch at the Chipotle Grill. Chipotle had a long lineup so we decided to go into the Westlake Centre Food Court to use the washroom first. When we got to the washroom we had to buzz a security guard to allow us in. The security guard then told us that he could not let us in unless we had a receipt from where we were planning on eating. We explained to him that we were visiting from Canada and wanted to use the washroom before eating. I understand that they must have this policy to prevent transients from off the street coming in and using the washroom for things that they shouldn’t be using it for, but he could plainly see that we were VERY obviously not like that. He still wouldn’t let us in. We ended up walking up a block back to our hotel and using it there, but we refused to go back to that mall or give our business to Chipotle. We ate somewhere else. I am very disappointed in the fact that we go to the US and spend our hard earned money, which supports their economy and we were treated in such a manner. I have never experienced that sort of treatment anywhere in Canada, and I have never been anywhere that had that type of policy. We like to visit the US and spend our money there, but we definitely have a bad taste in our month about Seattle.

We took the light rail from Seatac airport to Westlake Center. It takes about 30 minutes one way. The costs for adult is $2.75/child 6+ half price one way. While we were riding the rail, there were 2 security guards came on board to check tickets at one of the stop along the way. Make sure you purchase the ticket or else you will get a ticket! There are many shops such as Macy's, Nordrstrom, Abercombie and others. Walk a few blocks and there's Pike Market Place. Seattle Monorail is across from the Westlake Center station and that will take you to the Space needle. The duck tour is outside Starbucks. This is a very busy center with many different kinds of people. We noticed there were security guards walking around.

Enjoyed the Center on the weekend. Lots of concerts, activities, and folks. Many stores to shop, a park, and a mall with access to the monorail.

This is a very nice area with places to sit and enjoy the weather. If it wasn't for the vagrants and punk kids hanging out asking for spare change and smoking. Such a shame, this is a very nice district ruined by the lack of decency of a few. Nordstrom, Starbucks, Sephora and many other stores are located at this intersection. This place is still a great spot for people watching though. Bring your camera!
